Anyone else get an eye roll from the wife when you mentioned taking her to the movie? It seems to me that I dutifully went to The Hunger Games sequel a few weeks ago, but for some reason I think I'll be waiting for this movie to come out on DVD.

Just read the book, it's very good.
I'm sure the movie would be a let down even though the preview looked decent (and Jeremiah Johnson was a good movie take on the book.)

Probably should be expected when they cast Leonardo as the lead role.
Of course, getting mauled by a grizzly bear does have it's drama.

Agreed. I think I'm going to try to read the book first & then decide if it's worth spending $25 to go to the movie.

I go to about one movie a year, maybe less. But I want to try to catch this one. My wife was in when I said Leo. Then I told her the plot and she blank stared me and walked away.

The book isn't much longer than a sizeable magazine article and the actual historical facts are pretty sparse. So I anticipate some invented drama to pad it out. I think the visuals of the film are going to be pretty amazing. For what I know, they shot the entire film in natural light:

The Revenant is a far cry from the dinner table; Lubezki shot the film using only natural light, which meant waiting for weather and light to align for the perfect shot. It was complicated, cold and wet.

“A couple of times I fell in the frozen river,” Lubezki recalls nonchalantly, “To go back and change takes half an hour, so you have to really think if it’s a good idea to change in that moment and lose the light that you’ve been waiting for.”

Did you stay or did you go?

“I was expecting that light and we were waiting for it. I had to stay.”

If you're going to see it, I'd recommend the largest screen you can find.

When the trailers first came out I told the basic story of Glass to my lady, and she became very interested to see this film. She is curious about the history aspect of what Glass went through (twice) as well as the cinematic aspect of how this film was shot. She is well aware that this film will be a dramatic retelling that is loosely based on a true story. Its not a History channel docu-drama and no one should expect it to be.

Although my wife still gives me the gears for taking her to the "Lone Survivor" lol but than again I had to sit through Britney Spears in Vegas... so we are pretty much even.

My girlfriend is just as excited for this one as I am, we plan on seeing it in theaters. But she enjoys watching all the badass action as much as I do! No eyerolls here!
