The REAPER from Unknown Suppressors

Just curious. It says to keep the can under 800 degrees. Just curious if anyone had any idea how many rounds it takes to hit that temp? Pretending 223 or a cartridge like 6.5 Creed. Yes I know ambient conditions and the specific load itself will change that number.

I don't know how many rounds it takes, but I have never heard of anyone actually torching a titanium can with a bolt action rifle. You can exceed that temp too, you just have limited life above it

A couple online sources say it takes a couple mag dumps from an AR to get there.

Thanks I figured most every lightweight TI fan had a limit. I just wanted to make sure it would be Ok for range plinking. No AR burn downs. Every once in a while I get the urge to play with the large spinning target at the range.

Any hard data on the dBA rating of the reaper with 30 cal magnum cartridges? The testing shows this can will handle magnum without blowing up, but it's unclear how a 308 at 127 dBA compares to my 300 WSM with 40% or so more powder.

The 6UM 20” was 131 dB

I know it's HUB compatible so my ASR mount will fit, but is it ASR brake compatible?

As in, is the blast baffle deep enough to accommodate a standard 3 port ASR brake?

I'm curious how this can would compare to the Banish Backcountry on a 300 Win. Mag. Both cans being short and lightweight. The biggest difference that I see is the "girth" of the Reaper.

The Banish Backcountry has a shooter's ear dBA of 133.75. It is 9.3 ounces, 1.63" diameter, and 5.7" long. The Reaper has a SE dBA rating of 127. It is 8.8 ounces w/ adapter, 1.8" diameter, and 6" long.

For comparison, the Banish Backcountry is slightly worse than the 4+4 OG (133) when it comes to suppression.

If I was in the market for another >4" forward mounted suppressor, the Backcountry would not be on the list. The Reaper is a very competitive design in my opinion. I'd rather have it than a any of my "finalist" long suppressors except the Raptor 8 w/ reflex (and if the Reaper had been announced a month earlier, it would have almost certainly gotten the nod.



This is the graph I made while deciding between the Nomad and the Raptor 8. The TBAC Ultra 7 is only on this list for the sake of comparison. I own the Scythe because I bought it before I learned about the durability issues. I have made a number of mistakes in purchasing as I learned more about what makes a good suppressor (sometimes the only way to learn is to do it wrong). But if I could completely redo my suppressor purchases, I would own two OGs and two Reapers instead of a Scythe, OG, Raptor 10, and Raptor 8.
