The perfect .223 Rokslide Special Setup

I have a 16" barrel tikka 223, 550-ish rounds thru it unsuppressed, og-6s waiting on the man to do his thing...having that experience, from purely a muzzle blast perspective, if I couldnt shoot suppressed I might do 20 in.

Benefits to 16 in - very compact and handy, steady in various positions. The stuff about shorter heavier barrels folks are talking about above is noticeable, it seems more steady.
No experience with a 20 in Tikka 223, but in general a 20in bare muzzle is not unwieldy to me.

This will be my favorite rifle once suppressed, basically already is. Factory wood stock.
Yeah nice i mainly want it for a handy rifle it tight timber areas. Currently have a 20” 308 and was thinking going to 16 would be even better

Is there anyone shooting a 16” barrel thats in a place where they cant have suppressors? And benefits or is it just better off being 20”

I don’t like firing unsuppressed 16” rifles. Too much blast for me. Once I started shooting suppressed rifles, the absence of blast quickly became one of the biggest reasons I like them.

Top one is pretty close.

Stainless t3x
18” ACE tikka lite contour 7.5 twist, 223 wylde
Rokstok
Sportsmatch medium (or high? Not the lower ones) rings
Maven rs1.2
High desert bottom metal
Waters 10 rd mag for range, @pods8 (Rugged Stitching) printed 4 rd mag for hunting
Pictured with tbac ultra 7

If doing over and absolutely optimizing I’d consider 21-22” with a OG6, 0.100” freebore instead of wylde, and 7 twist. I’ll also likely go pic rail and something like NF UL rings going forward instead of direct mount rings.
Were you able to get 5/8-24 threads on the 18” Ace barrel or did you have to go smaller?

For me, this is close. It’s by far my favorite rifle to shoot, and not just as a “training rifle”. It’s kinda become a great general purpose all-arounder.
I’ve made the factory stock work for me but it does have its shortcomings and because I love the gun so much it has a wood RS Lite in the works. Eventually it’ll get the OG223 can and this one will move to the 6cm.

Is this the stock barrel and if so is it threaded 5/8-24? I’ve been trying to figure out if I can cut down the stock barrel or if I need to get an aftermarket barrel.

I had a howa mini 223 that was 16.25in. I put 17 rounds through it and sold it.
I absolutely hated that thing, muzzle blast alone made it basically unshootable. Im sure the mini sized hogue stock didn't help either.

I shot it alongside my 24in howa 300wm varmint and i much preferred to shoot the win mag.
When I finally get my contracts and suppressor approvals sorted I'll definitely be interested in trying a 16in 223 with a can, until then id go 20in minimum. Maybe even the factory 22.4in would be fine

If i were to choose my version of the perfect RSS 223 it would be-

T3x Superlite 22.4in- cerakoted black.
black Mdt HNT26 folding chassis
A drop test passing 3-15x or thereabouts, ffp, lightweight scope.
nf ultralight rings.

That would be my ideal build for 95% of rifle builds regardless of cartridge.

We can't have suppressors on regular hunting rifles here so thats not a thing unfortunately
