As a follow-up to my thread on the Capra World Slam, how many here are either working towards or have successfully completely the Ovis World Slam?

It involves harvesting 12 of the wild sheep listed below. No easy feat for sure.

I would have to look up their definition of “hybrid sheep”. I’ve killed quite a few Suffolk/dorset/Hampshire crossbred sheep. Mine are more wild than the ones listed on the high fence properties in WV and PA. Mine wouldn’t even stay in a pen or within a fence. In that case I have at least two on the list.

I never pursuited this but looking back, luckily I was able to hunt the mouflon and Barbary sheep many times in my country and continue. After this I hunted in Russia the 3 turs and one snow sheep.
Finally due to my good friends in Pakistan I hunted the Urial and the blue sheep an animal that I would never believe that I would hunt , I can't never thank enough.
Then I have 8 of 12.
But complete the rest is impossible for me unless I go for the other snow sheeps, Corsican mouflon or hybrid sheep but I'm not interested in these last two.

Most of these international sheep are cheaper hunts than what we have in North America, you just have to travel halfway around the world to get there and may have to deal with some shady customs and outfitters along the way.

Are you a booking agent for book your hunt?
Haha no, they just seem to be the most accessible site for comparing prices.

As far as I know you book directly through the outfitter there opposed to other booking agencies where a 3rd party is involved.

Here is my list of 14 Ovis. I feel very lucky to have reached this point. I would like to continue to build on it but keep getting distracted buy the Capra list along with chasing the NA 29.
I have done a lot of travel with clients & friends and have been along on 30+ ovis & capra species just not behind the gun. Each and every one has been exciting. The most recent is a trip for blue sheep and tar in Nepal a couple weeks ago where my friend killed his #31 ovis & #39 capra. Amazing! My new # 1 favorite hunt! This is a hunt I plan on going back and doing my self.
If youd like info give me a jingle.

Does a Barbary killed in the US count toward something like this? Haven't killed one yet, just curious.

Looking at the website Barbary sheep can count as 2 entries, one for the native North Africa Species and for the "Worldwide introduced" ie in the states.

Impressive!

How long have you been on this journey?

I drew my first tag, WA. california bighorn raffle back in 1998. Took my first international hunt, Kyrgyzstan mid-asian ibex, in 2007. Been hooked since ever since that first tag.
Curious to hear about your argali hunt. Was that in China before it shut down or in one of the neighbouring Stan’s?

Can you post pictures and some story’s?

I hunted in Kyrgistan November of 2021. I've never been colder in my life! Road horses 9 hours to a fly camp and stayed 2 nights in a 2 man tent. I killed my ram going in and my buddy killed a giant ram the next morning. We then doubled up on ibex. He killed a cool black 12 year old and I got luck on a 51 inch billy as they were leaving. The locals were great and it was a total different experience from my first Kyrg trip.kyrgram1.pngkyrgibex1.pngkyrg3.jpg
