Pretty easy... the doc loaded me up on Valium and I couldn't have cared less who was there or what they did. Took less than 20 minutes, they even let my wife hold my hand and joke about it they whole time. The smell of you own burning vas deferens is a bit alarming but nothing that big old apathy pill didn't fix.

They oversell the procedure and undersell the recovery... plan on a couple days of doing nothing much. Haven't had any side effects in the 3 years since...most important of which is a caboose baby.

Best ~$600 out of pocket I ever spent after unplanned #3 came into the picture. Procedure was quick, I was relaxed (on a valium), there was a doc and a nurse, I took it easy for the required period of time and had no issues. I ensured it took with the follow up tests (this is where some guys slack and get a surprise) and have enjoyed life. The way I saw it, it was easiest for me to get it done out patient vs an invasive procedure for the wife, I'm not going to put her through that and she wasn't going to use birth control for a couple decades and I didn't want to use condoms for decades either. Not that I was squeamish about the idea but with all that in mind it was a no brainer for me.

To the original poster going from 2 to 3 young kids (no more than 18mo apart) was a BIG change for us and completely derailed life plans. Expenses (everything is geared towards a family of 4 or less these days), time strain (you are outnumbered its a BIG difference breaks are far and few between), etc. is all exponential. I highly suggest you make that a conscious decision to pursue if you choose to pursue it.
