Popular opinion (apparently) aside, I’ve got Mark 5HD and love it apart from the massive size lol If this new Mark 4 can perform as well as my 5 has, might be a winner for them. But it sounds like my personal experience might be in the minority lol

Guys' "personal experience" is def always in the minority. I promise you, if you use a Mark 5 everyday in actual field use, you will be re-zeroing your rifle often for no apparent reason.

Wait arent you on the one over on the hide that just started a thread about the MK4 and wanting one for hunting?

Why would you ever want one having these personal experiences that you’re talking about? Genuinely curious.

Odd that you would be trashing Leupold here but then in another forum posting about wanting one?

I posted here that I wanted to try a 2.5-10x42

Edit, not here but on 24HCF and SH. but I did post here that they were "interesting" early today. I'm not trashing Leupold, I want their products to work. I like the company. I like the ideas behind their designs. I just want them to work.

Here’s what doesn’t make sense to me. If you look at comparable scopes, the Mark 4 doesn’t seem to lack in features or quality of glass compared to the Mark 5. However, if you compare models with similar magnification and reticles the difference in price is significant.

Mark 4HD 4.5-18x52

Mark 5HD 3.6-18x44

Both have an Illuminated PR1-Mil reticle. What makes the Mark 5hd $900 better?

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying but you just 100% contradicted yourself in two different fourms.

Why the hell would you want a scope if you’ve just told us earlier in the thread how bad they are. Twice.

What is flawed on it?
Did you not admit in the thread that you thought there was a mounting problem? That it had slipped in the mounts. No bother to retest though in a different mounting system. We will just leave that there for the public to know that ZCO doesn’t pass a drop test. It’s almost laughable.

Also if it apparently did not pass why are we not shitting on it everywhere like we do the mk5s?

I told you my bad my experiences were with Mark 5's and a VX6-HD. I've not had a Mark 4 to sh*t on yet, and being the gear ho I am, I'm sure I'll acquire one to put through my own evaluation.

I swear, no other brand ruffles guys feathers like leupold does... We all agree, we want them to build a modern scope that functions properly. We want them to win. There's a ton to like about their optics other than one thing... They regularly fail at their primary objective.

It's not "shitting" on Leupold, it just happens to be the brand that most guys get super defensive about and it's weird. They don't work properly when actually used in the field. It's been proven time and time again by more folks than just "rokslide".

If they made an optic that functioned, with a good MIL hunting reticle, I promise I'd own more than one and sing its praises. Until then... We keep waiting.

Please show one post where I have “shit” on the Mark 5. You are either being a troll or are not intellectually honest. If I/we’re lying, I offered to give an all expense paid trip for you to come prove it. All you have to do is show up- we’ll go buy several Mark 5’s from the store with you. You can mount them, you can shoot them, and you can drop them. If they hold zero you can have them. This should be easy if it’s all BS- show up and prove they hold zero.

@Ryan Avery @Bwhntr Has stated that we are lying, I have offered him to come out and show it. If he comes out and the Mark 5’s hold zero through the drop eval, he gets his expenses paid for.

Look man I’m not trying to single you out. What im getting at with this whole thing, and I think what you demonstrated for us, is that there is an obvious bias against leupold here that does not exist elsewhere. Your post on the hide for example.

The tone and real world experiences are different when you start looking elsewhere. All because of a test, which I will reiterate, ZCO supposedly failed.

So why is there not the hate for ZCO as there is leupold? That’s what’s “weird” to me.

Why can we not regard one supposedly failed drop test as we do another?

ZCO is not on the radar for most hunters, leupold is. I don’t care about ZCO, I have never cared or been interested in them… everyone has used and owned leupold, they are very much on the radar of most hunters, leupold makes scopes in all price points, ZCO doesn’t

I have been through the leupold BS, it’s the only scopes I used for years, and I would love to have them on my rifles again, but I’m not putting one on knowing what will eventually (or quickly) happen

I want the mark 4 to pass the drop eval more than any scope that’s been tested (I wanted the mk5 to pass too)

If they build a reliable scope, I will put them on everything, but with my past experiences with them, I’m not wasting any more money on them until they will pass this standardized test… everyone wants them to pass, I assume it would be about the perfect scope for my needs.

Like I said, if one of the mk4’s pass the initial evaluation, I’m buying one, but until then and the pattern of leupolds combined with my experience, I’m not doing it

I have never been interested in ZCO, so I don’t care how they do, pass or fail drops, I don’t care, not in my wheelhouse

Whether it’s in your wheelhouse or not is irrelevant. You should be voicing forms findings on them that they did not pass the rokslide drop test, right? That’s the same logic going on here throughout the forum. That’s all I’m saying. It’s like a cult following lol.

Calling you a liar? Jeez almighty dude calm down.

Never said you lied. But do I think your tests are the be-all end-all like a lot of people here seem to think? No.

It’s not a cult like following, it’s a replicable test that shows likelihood’s of a scope remaining reliable over a period of time, it’s nothing more

I am personally not willing to spend 1-4K on every scope that looks nice and do it myself, or speed up years of hunting abuse and round count, that is why Form’s drop tests are highly regarded by many, it’s standardized and gives a baseline, what more can be done?

Nothing is perfect, but I very much appreciate that him and Ryan do these. One thing that Form has mentioned is that if one scope passes, it doesn’t mean it’s a bombproof scope, but if that same scope doesn’t pass, it’s very unlikely that the model of scope will be reliable long term… it would be very lucky/unlucky to get one scope that is the one in 50 bad ones (even one in 5 is bad odds)

It’s the best baseline we have considering that bias is weeded out by standardizing the drop tests

A company that makes a scope that costs 5k doesn’t tell us anything about how they test them for durability and reliability, but it’s going to likely have very good glass and features… beyond that, is the best way to find out if a scope is good by asking someone if they think their 5k$ scope sucks?

The more things cost, the more likely people are to have bias and lie about said product, just how most people are, their ego won’t let them be honest
