The Hunting In Europe Thread

I hunted Fallow down there in 23. I was invited on a group hunt and we all got one. Spent more time drinking beer than hunting where we were they were everywhere.
Is there anything unique to fallow in each of these countries or are they all the same? It seems like the color phasing is much stronger (black/white/brown mixtures, etc) based on pictures I've seen in Slovakia, but I've not researched every country.

They are all European Fallow deer and experience color variations like other locations I have hunted in. They are not indigenous to Slovenia and may just depend on the gene pool etc. I’ve saw very dark and much lighter ones here in Germany as well. Some

Folks,

I had not hunted UK or Europe until '24. I was just surprised at how much game there was everywhere we hunted.

We hunted the UK first for CWD/Chinese Water Deer and Muntjac. When it got near dark there were literally CWD as far as you could see. I shot two nice ones in about 15 minutes. All of this was spitting distance from a major highway. The Muntjac like the wooded cover so you don't see lots, but we got one quite easily early morning. We also took a representative Sika stag at the end of our hunt and literally saw hundreds in different area after dark.

I was blown away with the shear amount of game that is totally unfenced there. The guides have done so much scouting that they can take you right to the places.

Spain was our 2nd destination and offers mountain hunting but without the climbing. Game is wild and not easy, but you'll get your ibex etc. I shot a "representative" ibex and then moved to semi fenced area (all the gates were open) for mouflon, fallow. The area was forested so the hunt wasn't a slam dunk, but we get both species in two days.

I highly recommend anyone that likes hunting to book something in the UK or Spain.

I can't wait to go back to maybe Romania and/or Czech.
