The Federal Ammo announcement

Remember the 7mm Backcountry? lol

I dont know.

The reloaders dont need this. And most factory ammo guys I know dont care enough. You know the type, three rounds on a paper plate the night before, lets go hunting!
Yeah, I’m one of those guys. Except I shoot milk jugs and clay pigeons. Something satisfying about watching a jug explode or pigeon shattering. The difference with me though is I shoot about every week for a month or so before the hunt. My pie plate if used is one of those small dessert plates. I shoot factory ammo for practice and my brother reloads my hunting rounds with 140 grain Accubonds for my 270wsm. No need for a 6.5 creed or prc with this rifle. It’s my favorite rifle and just below that is a 7mm wsm or 7mm mag.

There’s definitely some discrepancy in the reported cost of these loads. Multiple sources say $70/box. Other guys in this thread have said “ no, it’s only $40/box”. At $40 it makes a lot more sense, at least for guys that don’t reload. But the next question I would ask is how much more recoil will
these have than standard velocity loads ? Isn’t the main reason for choosing the creedmore “ low recoil”. So you bought a rifle to reduce recoil and then shoot loads with more recoil to reach PRC velocity ?

Been discussed ad nauseam. Should end up with very similar to traditional creedmoor recoil.

The 70 a box is the 67 or so dollars MSRP listed on federal website. It will sell a lot cheaper than that, and one retailer had a pre sale price listed in the 40 dollar range.

I guess I wasn’t involved in those nauseating discussions. How do you get 2-300fps more with no increase in recoil ? Does this new alloy somehow negate the “equal and opposite reaction” part of physics?

You would use regular cheap ammo for that. Just like I’m sure you did when you shot a lot.
No it has always been the 140 amax and then 143 eldx. With some h4350 behind it. Before that it was 168 amax out of a 308 and a few scenars sprinkled in.
