I bought a Glock 19 for this purpose. Afterwards, I shot a buddy's Canik and found it to be a gun that I prefer.

I still have the Glock, but if I did it again, I would buy the Canik.

I'm impressed with the way Canik has built their brand. They have managed to enter the market with a decently priced, good quality pistol with options from compact to full size. I have shot them, and liked them, I won't go away from Glock (which has been my duty and off duty gun for over 30 years)....but if I had a Canik I wouldn't feel under gunned or under armed.

The last thing "da gub'ment" and the politicians in it care about is The Constitution and We The People. It's all about accumulation of personal power, influence, and wealth....the people be damned. You're so right about tarring and feathering and public hangings. They are outlawed, but shouldn't be.

DITTO!! Though I'm currently training myself to get used to them <Barf!>... I HATE.. with a Passion.... the U-notch outline on the rear sight of Glocks. 3-Dot combat is where it's at, for defensive use anyway.

I bought a Tijicon set of Night-Sights for it, just haven't yet got around to swappin' 'em out. Misplaced 'em ATM in the house somewhere.

BTW... on that note, of changing out the sights on your Glock. What would everyone say is the best tool for doing it, especially when considering ease of use with cost. Saw those screw-in jig tools they have, but have a hard time justifying the $100+ price tag for an essentially one-time thing.

The dovetail in the back, is it directional like most are? If I remember correctly if you're trying to remove... I believe it's that you want to drift with the barrel pointing away from you... over to your RightHand side, correct? I seem to recall the dovetail groove is supposed to be slightly narrowing as it travels from Right-to-Left? Am I remembering that bit of info correctly here?

And for S&G, if you could also like post up an example of this $8 front site tool you're mentioning, I'd appreciate it, if only for the visual, so I can know what I'm looking for. Thx.

This is my choice. 5" Wilson EDC X9. If I could only have one, I'd probably do this in a 4". For summer time when I need something easier to conceal I carry a P365.

That little sig can nail steel at 100yds. I've been so impressed with it. Not sure if it just fits me or if I got a good one.

The Wilson is getting dropped off for a threaded barrel and an optic cut here in a couple weeks.

Glock 20 for me. I was in the same spot as the original poster a few years ago. Didn’t own a pistol and needed one for bear protection on hunt. Doing my research lead me to believe the 10mm was the best choice.
I love the way it feels and shoots. Haven’t held or shot many others though.

If I’m ever charged by a grizzly, I’m aiming at the middle of It and shooting as many times as possible until it’s about to hit me. My plan is to take a shot between its eyes as it’s almost touching the muzzle. Once it hits me the only thing I’ll be thinking about is not letting go of that gun and continuing to fire at its head or chest.

Sounds like a good plan until reality sets in and it’s 5 ft away by the first shot. Hope it hits it between the eyes!

In all reality, I figure I have a better chance of needing the pistol for meth heads than bears. Really hope I never need it.

The Ameriglow sights are a great upgrade on a Glock.

The front sight screws on and the rear presses in and out. No taper.

The nice thing about Glocks, they just work. And work. And work. They work dirty, they work with crappy ammo, they will work with broken internals. It’s very rare you press the trigger and a Glock won’t go bang.

Grip angle, okay whatever. Put the orange front sight in the middle of the target and press the trigger.
