For years I’ve shot deer with the 95 grain sst and seen a lot of others shot with the same bullet as well and have seen impressive results. But after reading the 223 77 tmk thread. Which I used this year on 6 deer. I’m trying to find the best all around 243 bullet. Apparently the sst doesn’t quite have as much penetration as form would like the 90 nbt isn’t the same as the almost impossible to find 95. And I haven’t seen any results on anything bigger than deer with the 90 eldx. Also the 95 tmk is unobtainium and my reloading family member is getting out of it. So for a 10 twist 243 with factory ammo what is THE bullet for 243 for deer bear elk and moose.

The 95 grain nosler ballistic tip is one of the top .243 bullets out there...Have shot them in my daughters 6 creed and my wifes 243...They kill well!
Forgot this one was available in factory ammo...it's a great choice as well.

The bullet is probably the 95 BT. Any cup and core 100gr bullet will work well. The 95gr Partition is also no slouch. The Seirra 85gr HPBT has a following but if you want more penetration than an SST, that’s probably not the one you want. For a cup/core bullet the 100gr spire point won’t disappoint. Midway has them currently, probably others as well.

85 gr. Sierra HPBT. As mentioned, it has a following. You may want to investigate. No elk but many mule and whitetail deer taken in my family with this bullet. Very effective on coyotes, antelope and deer....

100 gr Nosler partition has always worked well. I hoped the Accubond or lr version would be available in at least 100 gr., but no. 100 gr bullets shoot in all 1:10 twist barrels so I’ve never understood why the 90 and 95 gr bullets sell so well.

It seems silly to use heavy for caliber bullets in .224 .257 and .264 and go light on 6mm.

Depends on twist. I have a tikka 1:8 243 and it loved the 105 bergers VLD. I’ve killed a coyote and and antelope with them and had great results but that’s the limits of my anecdote.

I couldn’t get the 90-95 grain options to shoot for shit but the standard 1:10 243s probably love those.
