The All New MRC/S2H Marshall Rifle Now Available

There was this…
I don't want to speak out of turn. Can't find if it was discussed earlier in the thread, UM barreled this particular rifle, beyond that I don't know specifics.

Then this…
UM isn’t supplying anything. The answer was already given- but I suppose that’s too easy.

and this….
And they’re not going to tell you. It isn’t just one. Right now there are Marshals with MRC, Brux, Lilja, ACE, and others. I’m sure if they can they will settle on one or two, but it won’t matter- the rifles will shoot as they should.

Looks like @Bluumoon got a good barrel.

@BAKPAKR

@Formidilosus, I went back to find the answer to my UM re-barrel question so I wouldn’t lose sleep tonight worrying about it. It appears that a couple other people had the same question and, in post 709, @Bluumoon said, “Can't find if it was discussed earlier in the thread, UM barreled this particular rifle, beyond that I don't know specifics.”

Was his rifle re-barreled by UM, and, if it was, can you point me (and possibly @Bluumoon) to the post that explains why it was?

You can’t find where the MRC rep stated that they are not using their own barrels anymore, and are using quality barrels from outside barrel makers? And then where I wrote quite a few barrels that have already been used?

I’m not sure what you are trying to get out of it, but most of your posts with regards to this rifle have the same, near trolling odd bent to them. You normally do not post like this.

I did not ask who made the barrel — I asked if UM barreled @Bluumoon’s rifle, as he said they did, and, if so, why?

I have a Remington 700 that was barreled by Jon Beanland. When I tell people how well it shoots, I commend Beanland, not Remington.

Being that these are being sent out w a 10 round guarantee (unlike pretty much anything else out there) I don’t see the concern.

Also, you are obviously overlooking my extraordinary shooting and reloading abilities to achieve results like these 🤣 . Kidding, if anything I have a special ability to muck stuff up and break things unintentionally.

Was thinking I might sell the 95gr TMKs I had on hand based on how they did in my Tikka, may have to hold off.. The 1st 4 were touching, good bit of mirage after that.

Let me know when you're ready to sell that rifle lol

I got some time today to pick my Marshall up and do a little bit of shooting. First impressions on the rifle are very good, fit and finish is on par with what I was expecting. Action screws are paint-penned, magazines had stickers denoting a matching SN to the rifle. Barrel channel is properly opened up, pictured next to a factory T3X .223 barrel in a sendero profiled channel. I have a LOP kit here to install at some point as well, unless @atmat wants to come up and get a second crack at one. Scope is a RS1.2 in low Hawkins rings, OG6.5 can. Other rifle is a Tikka .223, 16" barrel with 6" can.

I did a rough zero with some Hornady 87 gr VMAX, then 10 rds of Berger 105 gr Hybrid Target (~1.1 MOA), 10 rds of ELDM (~1.3 MOA), and 10 rds ELDX (~1.2 MOA); all factory loads. ELDMs are the only load I got a velocity on, avg 2840 fps at 8000'. I have some Hornady 105 gr BTHP on hand as well, and should get a chance to shoot more groups with the rifle this weekend to see if I can bring the sizes down a tenth or two, and to true it at distance.

Love the custom paint job on the 223, I may need to try something like that on mine this winter when I get bored. Is it just spray paint?

Also does your rokstok on the 223 have the grip panels on the butt stock, same as the lites? I didn’t know that was an option on full sized Rokstoks, it looks great!

Yeah it's just spray paint, I used some shredded cardboard shipping filler as a variable stencil. Makes it very quick to create a 'random' pattern. The texture on the stock is textured spray paint, just used masking tape and a 20 ga shotgun shell to layout the radiused ends, then a light coat of texture & sponge to break it up. I'll get around to adding it to the Marshall Rokstok soon, it makes a noticeable difference shooting with gloves.

That stock is looking good with that 223. Still my favorite sponge pattern

Would you mind documenting this next one, and putting it up as a separate thread? Looks like a solid process.

Thanks for sharing so much detail, I agree with others, this is very well executed and I bet a dedicated thread would get a lot of attention.

So glad you got yours. Hopeful to get up there and shoot with ya.

Had a bit of time as the storm rolled in to shoot a few more groups and true it (factory box makes a great truing target). Velocity has come up a bit as the barrel has broken in, not sure how many rounds @Formidilosus put down the pipe but I am at 70 rds. Same lot of ELDMs are averaging 2856 fps now, ELDXs are 2913 fps. Groups shrunk a little as well, with both ELDM and ELDX hovering in the 1-1.1 MOA range. Berger 105gr HT and both of these Hornady loads have almost the same POI, so whoever made the barrel it doesn't seem to be picky so far.

Trigger pull has been good (card says 2 lbs 4.5 oz) clean/consistent. Not sure if the few times it's felt like there is creep has been due to gloves. I haven't been able to replicate it dry firing, so will keep an eye on it. I did have the bolt knob come loose last night cycling it in the living room. I don't know if the blue loctite just wasn't cured or if there was oil in the bolt threads, but a quick acetone wipedown and some Rocksett fixed that problem. @Imac45acp Just a heads up.

I'll update this as needed, but for now it's time to shoot the shit out of it. Action has slicked up nicely as well with a few hundred more cycles.

103 ELDX, 5 shots @ 535 yds. Orange horizontal is 4", I dialed 2.7 mils & held on the horizontal bar directly below the dot, no wind adjustments.

108 ELDM @ 535 yds, dialed 2.8 mils, same 4" horizontal and same hold, no adjustments for wind.

I occasionally notice a bit of creep in my trigger. Mostly it’s been dry firing and it seems to either be hit or miss, or I just don’t notice it every time.
