The All New MRC/S2H Marshall Rifle Now Available

As I’ve understood it they’re new to 22 cal and 6mm. They’re also building new parts for this specific rifle. Manufacturing things new things from raw materials isn’t the simplest thing in the world.
Gotcha that makes sense.

So, when you are around 500 days out on something you paid for in full, you are saying you are cool with it?

I mean, I don't feel like I seek instant gratification, but somewhere within 3-4x's the expected delivery date.
Or hell, emails answered. But what do I know, I'm just some internet wise ass.
The rifle is 500 days out? Didn’t realize that my mistake.

If so, and I was a paying customer, I would be upset for sure.

I get where @2buffalo is coming from though. The action is done. Last I saw was that they were having accuracy issues and Iain said they were going to try different throating and twist rates if I recall correctly. It’s not the manufacturing of new parts that seems to be the hold up, it’s a company that has said themselves that they are not experts in the gunsmith world. Their strength is that they are willing to accept mistakes, make changes and commit to a quality control process that other companies don’t hold themselves to.
If you don’t like that, then the gun isn’t for you. It’s not for me, but then a lot of us here are more than capable of putting together a bulletproof rifle on our own with a more than proven Tikka platform.
I am interested mostly for the American made aspect. I am willing to try one out.

No, I sure hope it's not.

I jumped in on something, where I was reading on waiting. Probably said something too soon, I just hope it's not history repeating itself.

But where do you draw the line in a time frame for your instant gratification versus being a patient customer?
While I have your attention.

I’m the customer who wants it to work. You have to get there first, and in my personal opinion (which doesn’t matter to anyone but me haha), the rifles should “be there” before any “pre-sales” happen.

For production intent units and doing verification and validation work (I do this for large company with a lot at stake) it’s a different story.

I believe they are still in the verification and validation stage before multiple production intent units can then be evaluated.

If someone has taken an order and promised a delivery date that hasn’t been met, that’s on them (I don’t know if this has happened here, but I haven’t seen any promised dates, but easily could have missed it).

Then it’s simply up to the customer whether they wait longer than expected or cancel their order.

I think it is simply the lack of communication that irritates people. Transparency is everything especially if they have someone's money. In this day and age, it's all about trying to gauge interest first, before committing to build something. When things don't go as planned and delivery dates are missed, it gets tough to stay positive.

You realize the first post in this thread is about purchasing this rifle?

It has changed, when I had first followed it, was a paid in full, I see now it got reduced to a 10% upfront.

So maybe not as bad, but I can say I'm definitely done with the pay upfront and wait, after 493 days....

Ah yeah. This is the purchase thread not the other thread my apologies. Too many threads and I need to go to bed. Been up since 4:30.

Thanks Mommy.

What?

No one is 500 days out on a rifle that hasn’t even been produced yet- and only one person I believe paid due to a miscommunication in ordering from MRC to UM. That person was offered their money back.
What I believe was said for expected timeline was “May time frame” for 6.5cm and 308, late summer for 6cm and 22cm. There are only 3 IIRC 6.5cm orders. Regardless, the rifles aren’t being shipped until they are correct.

MRC is working on minute changes to the stock inletting. When that is complete, then testers will get their rifles (a couple may be customers if they choose), and after enough validation from testers has been gathered they will start production.

The “pre-sale” stuff gets annoying for sure. They haven’t missed the first quoted ship date, but 4/30 is coming up.

A month or two past a deadline, sure I’ll wait. But if it’s months and months, I’m not going to be as patient.

Looking forward to more results.

Just for transparency, I also paid in full but was not offered my money back.

I don’t mind that, and I’m fine waiting. Zero complaints — they said end of summer for 6creed and we’re not there yet.

But my guess is that there’s several of us who paid and weren’t contacted for refunds.

Yes- because people were hounding them about being able to order it.

Yes it does. And they should stop in my opinion. However you greatly underestimate the amount of people that badger to be able to prebuy and order. It is ridiculous.
If someone doesn’t want to participate in paying upfront, pre buys, or whatever- then don’t. I certainly don’t. However, people also need to admit reality- lot of people raise holy hell until they can, and no one can be surprised when a prebuy isn’t delivered on time. That’s just part of the deal.

I'm not talking about rifles, just previous experience.

Hopefully this goes off without a hitch

Contact UM- they will refund.

No.

I’d rather wait until the product is actually available (and working as it should).

I posted the 4/30 date since there seemed to be some confusion about when these *should* be available (taken right from UM’s site).

So does that make it OK?

“Ok”. How would it be ok or not ok? If a company wants to do a presell, and people participate- it’s not a crime. They are volunteering to do so. At this point from just about every company- they do not make their initially stated dates.

I agree.

This is the problem in my view. UM wants to please people and they tend to be optimistic because they want to please those people. So instead of giving no answer or the most pessimistic one, they tend to give the optimistic one.
