The 6UM

Sweet. I have 6 pounds of h1000 so I’ll start there. Especially for fire forming.

I Fireform with 58.0g H1000 and factory second 108s. Shoots incredible, almost makes me think about dropping to a straight 6 SAUM on my next barrel.

Recovered the DTac in the offside shoulder. Not sure on the weight but it's not a lot. I'd be surprised if it's more than 50 grains.
Perfect performance.

Pretty sure the second shot was the hit.
The first warning shot just startled him. Second shot was basically instant death.

Pretty amazing for 905 yards.

These soft bullets going fast are doing really well for me. Between these and the 22 Creedy and TMKs.

Shot my bull at 60 this year. Got the chance to go do some work on B tags. Clipped into the tripod 3 for 3 between 450 and 600. Buddy shot a pair and I shot one. 115s are bad medicine. Love this setup.

If I sell a rifle, I can promise it hammers.:) If a rifle sucks, I will rebarrel it—no need for more inaccurate rifles in the world.

I don't think you can go wrong with any known barrel company. I really like Benchmark, but damn, that wait time is rough. One very underrated barrel company is Pacnor. I have two right now that really stack them.
No mention of Ace here? Figured that be top choice with the UM partnership.

But I don’t want Avery to mention Ace just because of the UM deal, only of they’re good. Apparently he’s had more luck with others, or hasn’t run enough of them to say

Ace probably falls into the “can’t go wrong with any known barrel company ”

You make a great point! But then the conversation could go to - why not pick the "best" to have a partnership with. I'm not trying to insinuate anything, just putting pieces together based on observation. How many barrel makers have been on the S2H podcast besides the Ace guys? (which I do like). Yes, I know S2H and UM are 2 different companies.

Def more than one good maker out there either way.

That’s not how Ryan works. Ace barrels are generally very good- same as any other good barrel company. But- just because there is some “deal” between them, that doesn’t mean Ryan will shill- quite the opposite.

Was talking on the phone with Ryan the other day. I asked him about barrels. He said Ace is good. But also listed a few others he prefers over them. Benchmark being one.

Has anyone been running the 6 UM 40 degree in an XLR chassis with Accurate Mag 6.5 PRC/300WSM mags? That's my current setup with an Impact action and I'm unsure if it will feed well in comparison to the 30 degree variant.

Not sure about any difference XLR chassis would make, but 6 UM 40 degree feed fine in my Impact from 3 round 300 WSM Accurate Mags with an M5 bottom metal setup.

Yes, the PRC mags hold four rounds. A Tikka 300 WSM mag is not long enough for the 6UM. You must use 6.5 PRC magazines or LA Magnum magazines.
When you, or anybody else that has done a 6UM-40 on a Hnt26 chassis, which MDT magazine are you using then? The MDT 6.5PRC magazine is the same as the 300WSM magazine. Do you have to go to the LA Magnum?
