The 6UM

It will close on the fired brass that was sent with the barrel and the 6-30 brass. Should I even worry about the go gauge?
Isn't the 6-30 brass different than the regularly available saum brass? If so, then I wouldn't worry about the headspace being a little short (if it is) because you're in handload only territory. The only issue is if your next round of brass chambers or not. If it doesn't, then run It through your size die until it does.

Or, just send your barreled action back and have them troubleshoot/fix it

Also, I need you guys to tell me a 6UM or 6 saum or 6 or isn't worthwhile over a 6 cm. I had been planning on 6cm after I burn out my 243 so I could get great factory ammo and quit handloading, but that lazzzerbeam 6um sounds like so much fun.

Except the wildcat and handloading part. I've done both and I don't like it haha

Do both.
Keep the UM strictly for hunting and the 6CM for targets or close shots on game

I LOVE the 6UM, but most people don't need it. How often will you shoot past 500 yards at animals?

Almost never I'm guessing. Currently, I wouldn't shoot passed 600 or so and conditions would have to be just right. I'm just liking the idea of an 18" barrel with lots of speed using the 112mb or 115dtac

The struggle is real. I have a 300 wsm I want UM to rebarrel in 6 um. Do I need it? No. Do I want it, yes. Do I shoot animals further than even 300 yards very often in sw wi? No but I do shoot steel go on an occasional western hunt and like new shiny things.

As great as the 6 UM is...probably not. It would be a bit like driving an F1 car to work every day. The 6 UM starts to outshine the standard capacity cases at over 800 yards.

Very true. I don't think I've run the numbers until now.

For 10500 DA and 10mph full value and 650yd

18" 6um Dtac at 3200, 2.8 up, 0.7 windage
18" 243 108eld at 2885, 3.7 up, 0.9 windage
18" 243 112mb at 2820, 3.7 up, 0.8 windage.

Running the numbers through the WEZ makes it even clearer. There's basically no difference at that range.

You could just do a 6 PRC. Single neck down on 6.5 brass. No firefirming. Right in the middle between the Creed and the UM.
