I can live with that. So if UM need your barrel for fireforming brass does that mean when they build a 6um they will sell you FF brass??

Hmm, I really don’t know how they would handle 3300 FPS.

In the research I've done it doesn't look like the ELD M or A Tips will even make it to the target.
Wonder if David Tubb would make a run of the old 117 Tipped DTAC if we ordered enough. That might be just the ticket. I guess that would have been made by Sierra? Maybe they could still make some.
So far it seems the list of suitable bullets is a little short. I've been thinking about buying a nose ring tool to try to expand the list a bit.

- 110 SMK. Availability is an issue, would need a nose ring.
- Berger 109 LRHT. May need a nose ring.
- Berger 105 LRHT. On the light side. I'm going to use some to FF.
- Berger 115 HVLD. Not currently available.
- Berger 115 Target VLD. May or may not need a nose ring.
- 115 DTAC. Great price and availability, more fragmentation may be desired for deer sized game
- Nosler 115 RDF. Would need a nose ring.
- Barnes 112 Match Burner. Questionable consistency.

The 117 tipped DTAC looks like it would be perfect. Too bad it hasn't been available in a decade.

We have asked Sierra for a 120 TMK. They were lukewarm to the idea.

"Wait...Wut? 6UM can be ordered now from Unknown Munitions?"

Not sure if sadder words have ever been spoken. :ROFLMAO:

Who do think can be convinced to chamber Tikkas vs just sawing them in half and using a Vesper? You know what they say, fool me once, you're a fool, fool me twice.......

Would be no better, and worse in some ways than a NR DTAC.

Same as above. No advantage to using them over a NR DTAC especially at these MV’s.

Probably not with the velocities of the UM. Even in something like a 6cm, etc, the NR DTAC’s kill well- just not as wide as I would prefer for deer.

- Nosler 115 RDF. Would need a nose ring.

Yes, and consistent precision has been an issue from what I’ve seen.

- Barnes 112 Match Burner. Questionable consistency.

Will not handle the 3,200+ fps terminally that the UM produces. They are very quick upsetting/fragmenting bullets at 2,800fps and below, at 3k plus…. Penetration would probably not be ideal. On a deer maybe. On an elk?

The 117 tipped DTAC looks like it would be perfect. Too bad it hasn't been available in a decade.

Yes, a 115gr to 120gr TMK (with rebated boattail) would be ideal. I think the 103gr ELD-X is certainly one to try in the UM as well.

🤔

That’s an idea. I should do a 6UM on a Pre64 M70…

You sir are VERY mean............:oops::)

I'd have to chamber it then. Most Pre-64s are the perfect length for a 6 UM.

I wish you rifle test had been with an M-70 SS Classic. Next time you do such a test I have one you can borrow.

Kind of a big jump from 95 to 120. Be nice if they at least made some runs of the 95s.. I’d jump on the 105-110 train too.
