The 6mm of turkey calls

I agree. They’re big, loud to carry, require 2 hands to run… that’s a hard no for me. I run a friction for locating or windy days and diaphragms for everything in between.

Dif'rent strokes. I can affect a bird with a trumpet in terms of directionality, if that is a word, I can't do with anything else. And it's very convenient. But if it doesn't fit your style then why bother. I don't think a really good mouth caller needs anything else.

As and aside, I have a recording of John Dangerfield making every turkey sound on a trumpet. Dude does an excellent purr...on his trumpet.

Ive called in more birds than most can imagine with a lynch deluxe world champion. Been using it for over 40 years and called in both my birds last year with it. I agree, they dont work at all, everyone else please use something else, I will sound different.

My Lynch World Champion gets responses on windy days when nothing else does. Mine’s going on 25 yrs….it is my best, favorite, most coveted call I have. I have 3 now… but my oldest original one is THE ONE.

it’s loud. And with the rubbers adjusted just right it makes a great gobble.

Yeah I do think that is one huge thing with a trumpet is the ability to push sound in specific directions. I haven’t given up on it yet I just have a hard time moving away from my confidence combo which is a pot call for striking or working one in and finishing with mouth calls.

Our season opens Wednesday here in IN and I’ll be carrying the trumpet still!

This post is BS on two different levels. First of all, I am willing to bet that more turkeys have been killed with someone using a box call than all the other types of calls combined. Like anything else, there are good box calls, decent box calls and sorry box calls. I have one that is excellent and you can cluck and yelp very softly which sounds great. If the situation arises for loud like locating, you can crank it up and try to get a bird to gobble. Second of all, the 6mm Rem is badass.
