The 22 creedmoor thread

Since my 22 is happy with the 88s I'm building a short 6 prc to play with. Love the idea of the 6 creed but just seemed to close to have both with the 22 working so well. If I had built the 6 creed first I'd probably have just stuck with it but where's the fun in that. Excited to see how the 88 tmk and 117 tmk shoot once (if) I can get some.

My experience with the 88s in a 1:8 X cal and 1:7.5 Bartlein barrel has been great. No fuss at all. Both rifles shoot them at 3150 ish.

I should try them in my newer 22 Creed with a 1:8 Proof. Maybe I’m the lucky one here.

What barrel lengths are getting to the 3150 with the 88?

My barrel is an ibi 20" 7 twist. Currently running 3075 with 39gr of h4350 in virgen brass. Could pretty easily get 3150 with a different and or more powder and will likley be 3100 on second fire now that that brass is formed.

Good looking gun! Thanks!

I was wondering about the mags. Right now I’ve got mine on a bravo stick using the Poly mdt mags. They’re working good but going to be putting it in a different stock for deer hunting next summer.

Have you ever tried the Waters 6br mags in it?

I have not used the waters 6br, not sure if they would work or not. The easiest solution is probably going to be the ascension industries 3d printed 6ARC mags for tikka bm. Although I have not tried them yet.

Question for you gun nuts: Would a 77 TMK stabilize in a 1:9 twist barrel at 22 Creed speeds? My guess is it would. Brownells has Douglas #1 contour barrels for just $227, and this seems like the way to go for a Kimber rebarrel.

I believe you would be glad you spent the extra and get Lilja to dupe the contour and get a 1:7-7:5. I get the appeal of saving 120-170 bucks and skipping the wait but I think you'll end up regretting the 9 twist.

You will be fine SG is 1.6 at roughly 900’ DA at 3300fps (20”Bbl)

7.5 twist at 3300 is 316k rpm. No use in chancing bullets coming apart when the TMK will run in a 8 or 9 twist.

Conventional wisdom in the 5.56 world is that a 1:9 would only reliably stabilize up too 69gr but it may or may not work for individual guns at higher weights. Nor sure if CM speeds will change that. I dont think I would buy a 1:9 specifically for them though.
