The 22 creedmoor thread

I saw Midway USA had some of the new hornady 69 eldvts. I might order a box and try them out. I was listening to the hornady guys and it sounded like they worked better on coyotes than the 62’s. Some people had issues with the 62’s splashing

After a 7 month wait my rem-age barrel is on the build list and will hopefully be in my hands by the beginning to middle of November. Looking forward to shooting it, it will be 20in sporter contour, 1/7 twist with Saami Freebore. Hopefully it is a shooter!

I think 35 cents a piece plus tax and shipping is pricey. Looks somewhere near 40 cents. May be alright if you only shoot a couple now and then. I shoot thousands of 22 cal a year.
Yea that makes sense. They are cheaper than the betters I have been using though. But I only use my gun for just hunting with a for a little practice mixed in.

Figured I would give the 88’s a go. I think my barrel likes them.

That’s quite impressive. I was using 85.5 Berger’s with 45.5 gr of R26 and velocity was great at 3370 but my chamber is also short throated. 2.670 to the lands. They shot pretty good when jammed .030 into the lands but it was tough closing the bolt. Backed them off to 2.665 and the groups are only about an inch.
Loaded up some 77gr tmk with N560 and will shoot them tomorrow. If I’m not happy with the results I’m going to get it ghosted out about .050.

Got a 1-7.7 twist 224 Bartlein barrel on the way… it’s replacing a 1-12 twist 22-250 on a R700. Will be for deer, etc. I’ve got 22-250 Lapua brass and dies. Is it worth the cost to bump up to 22 Creed or stick with 22-250 and save a few hundred bucks?

I've never seen another caliber so hit and miss with accuracy. Each barrel seems picky with 88's, 80's, etc.

When I burn my barrel out I'll be thinking long and hard about a 22GT. Seems like that might be the sweet spot for case capacity, medium fast powder and heavy bullets.

What's the consensus on rechambering a Tikka factory barrel to 22cm? Is the barrel life as good as prefits and shoot as well? Worth doing?

77 gr TMK’s with 45gr of N560 seems to be the ticket for my short throated creed. Velocity was 3413, no pressure signs and groups right around 1/2”.

Is that a 22 Creed problem or ELDM problem?
