Adjusted the seat depth on the 77 tmks. Getting 3058 fps! 46 grains of 565. I like it.

Tried the 88's again and yeah those are getting trashed.

Got the zero angles set up to shoot both the 77's and the 85.5's. Montana youth days Thursday and Friday. Going to be a lot of fun with the kids.

Back from Wyoming and the 22 Creed has its first two kills in the books. This was with the 77 TMK.

Antelope at 197 yards. First shot was broadside, low in chest tucked behind the leg. He spun at the shot and I immediately put another one through both lungs going the other direction (exit is visible in photo). He dropped in place with that shot. It was hot out and I was 4 miles from the truck so I broke him down quickly and got on my way without too many pictures. But his chest cavity was nothing but jello.



Small muley buck was at 283 yards, steeply uphill. He ran about 30-40 yards and flipped over. The bullet did not exit on that shot.



I am super happy with this rifle setup. Being able to spot impacts and quickly follow up is a game changer. I should be able to get several more experiences with it this fall on PA whitetail.

I’ll admit, I haven’t read all the pages…..

Looking at ordering an 18” 22cm barrel. There’s been some discussion about the 75, 80, and 88 eldm and some are having issues getting them to shoot. How much difference is there between the bullets, and is it worth throating for the 88s?

IMO I would not be too hung up on bullet choice. 88s are finicky and some barrels won’t shoot em. They have a long bearing surface and the other bullets can usually be pushed faster and make the BC gain of the 88s almost negligible for most guys.

This. I got the 88's to shoot sometimes but they seem inconsistent.

To do it over again I'd bypass the Hornady and go right to the Sierras or Bergers.

That 88 eldm has great BC. But doesn't mean if it's not shooting a decent group.

It’s not as much getting hung up on a certain bullet as it is ordering a barrel with too much freebore because I shoulda stayed in the 73-80gr range. Both of yall have pretty well talked me into staying with a saami chamber tho

Bullet performed exceptionally, vaporizing internals and expanding without grenading. Antelope took 10 steps and died. Bullet buried in offside hide and was recovered as pictured.

Y'all that are wanting to shoot 88's may want to watch this video from Hornady that came out yesterday. Funny, another video that falls right in line with a topic on here.....22 Creedmoor Short version, Hornaday does NOT sell the factory ammo with the 88. Reason being, the accuracy is hard to get with them in all climates, altitudes and temperature. At some points of the year, they got great accuracy, in colder weather, close to freezing, the accuracy was not that great, in fact terrible in their words. Which would explain why yall are having accuracy issues, and I believe even @Formidilosus discusses accuracy issues with the 88's? They then go on to talk about their loadings for 2026, and they are using it now on big game as well. They favor the 65 grain CX, 80 ELDX, and even the 69 ELDVT. They discuss accuracy, wound channel shapes etc. the whole gamut of things discussed here on but never mention energy lol. It is a long video but I have a hour drive to work each way so I listen to it. Beats the radio.

Weird. Not sure I buy that - 88s have shot well for me in a 1:8 and 1:7.5 barrel. First one, worked up a load in Ohio, then took it out to Wyoming hunting. Still shot lights out.

I also use these in the summer as well as winter months while hunting with my thermal. No difference in accuracy.

So no 88s in the 22 Creed, but they perform to their standards enough to load factory ammo in the 22 ARC?

They have explained before, it's not an issue with the 88 eldm its that with their saami twist of 1:8. Bullet stabilization can be an issue in some barrels at some density altitudes. Not a bullet problem but they intentionally put a slower twist than optimal for the 88s so that lightweight bullets arnt over spun at high velocity ie their vt bullet. My 22 cm barrel is a 7 twist and has zero stabilization issues with the 88s regardless of temp and altitude. Again it's not a bullet problem, hornady just should of spec'd them with 1:7.5 barrels and they are allergic to admitting the eldms kill excellently.

@Grizzle thanks for that explanation. I heard that in the video, but it was over my head lol...this stuff is all new to me, but at least they are trying lol thanks again.

My accuracy with 88s is mediocre with my 7 and 7.5 twist barrels with several powders and much tinkering and lots of shots.

My DA was around 1400 feet this summer and temps in the 80-90's Fahrenheit. My actual elevation is around 11 feet.

I'm just shooting up 77 SMK's and 77 TMKS until the barrels are cooked.

Here's my budget 22 CM build. Tikka T3x 22-250 rechambered. So far I've just been shooting Hornady's factory ammo: 80 gr ELDM & ELDX. I couldn't get the ELDXs to group but the ELDMs are less than 1 MOA out to 500 yards.

Thanks. It was my first time trying the marble finish. It turned out well until I got a little hasty with the clear coat... what felt dry to the touch was still curing. I put it in the vice to start reassembly and it left imprints, even with the soft jaws... Oh well. Like I said, it's a budget build!

It did well on the med. sized 4 pt the other day, but that was only 222 yards.

My UM barrel is throated for the 88’s, which it doesn’t particularly like. The 77 TMK and 80 ELD-M shoot very well though, even with that long freebore. I wouldn’t stress too much. It seems like if your barrel doesn’t like one projectile, there’s others with more or less bearing surface etc that will.

Yeah, its not like 77 TMKs are close to the lands of a 556 or Wylde chamber loaded to AR mag length. Some jump isn't the end of the world.
