The 22 creedmoor thread

Caribou felt all the “wallop” at 500 yards. No drama, no tracking.

80gr ELDMs. 3” entry size wounds one ruined most of the neck meat; on the other it ruined most of the front shoulders (additional high lung shot left little evidence of lungs).
Good job; my only concern with my 22CM is meat loss. I am considering building a load with DRT bullets.

I’ve killed dozens and dozens with 88 ELDM and 80 ELDX with VERY mixed results.

Some pelts are unusable. Some are fine.
Sorry to bring back such an old post.. do you have any updated results using the 88gr? I intended to run the 75gr ELDM but my rifle shot the 88's much better.. 18" @2900fps so a little slower than I was hoping. Coyotes are the main target, but the goal is to have as close to a "do all" rifle as possible. Thank you!!

If you do the 22-250 route and cut to a 20' barrel, how does that impact the existing 8 twist grooves already cut in the barrel?
Just like cutting any other barrel. As long as the gunsmith does a good job with the crown it has no negative impact. My rechambered tikka barrel was cut to 18" and shoots plenty good.

If I was trying to save pelts on dogs I wouldn’t use ELDMs personally. They certainly kill then dead but can be messy.

88s, if your gun shoots them well, are fantastic “do all” bullets for killing.
