The 22 creedmoor thread

Has the 62VT been too soft or too hard on small soft targets?

Jay

It kills, but I haven’t had any exits really to speak of. Even a raccoon at 125 yards.

At 3650, I was expecting jack rabbits to vaporize haha. Again, the 69 TMK from my 223 at 2750 does more damage on the same animals.

Are you going to deer hunt with them?
I’d be interested in seeing how they do.

My 22 ARC shoots the 62’s really well.
First will be gel and gel with mediums once I can get some pulled apart and reloaded to reduced loads. This way I can shoot them into gel and gel with animal bones and hides at various impact speeds and learn.

Folks don’t like to hear this, but generally speaking, coyotes travel much further than big game animals when hit with non CNS shots. They are far “tougher” than big game animals from a will to live standpoint and covering ground when hit. They obviously can lose air and blood much quicker with well placed shots, but using dozens and dozens of coyote kills with a certain bullet as a “proofing” method for what the bullet does in animals is a good learning experiment.

I goofed up with my gunsmith and picked this up today. This seems like a good place to cross-post...
