The 22 creedmoor thread

Got home from lunch today and started reading thread from the beginning. Didn’t learn that much lol.

I am in possession of 200 pcs of Peterson SRP brass, 500 77gr TMKs, 4,000 CCI 450s, and lots of powders but notably, a lot of Varget. Going to try it in my 16.5” first. Temp stability will be more important to me than top speed, tho I do kinda wish I had went with LRP brass after reading the thread.

You should be good to go. Let us know.

I won't say that I have never had an issue with SRP, but I also can't say the same about LRPs. For me, the SRP is a great option, and I love that they are often more readily available in my area than LRPs.

That ammo must be hot
Read the temperature disclaimer

I hadn’t noticed that disclaimer (i.e. probably overlooked). Looking at several of their other ammo offerings, they have that same disclaimer (even on subsonic 300 BLK). Probably more of a “cover your ass” thing.

The 85s clock ~ 2911 out of my 20” Proof.

Anyone run QL on their loads? I'm trialing Gordon's Reloading Tool and my pressures seem way off for the velocity I'm getting with a Garmin chrono. I'm sure I have something an input not right, but with an 85.5 Berger and staball 6.5 GRT is saying I have over 77K pressure at 3,036fps, which doesn't feel right. Gun shoots great, no heavy lift, no primer pressure indication. GRT is off on my 4350 loads as well, not just a little, but like 500 fps. I do have a 16.5" barrel, that would cause the program to go wonky, would it?

Was just curious what QL would say.

I dont know if this has been asked before and I missed it, but I searched and couldnt find it.

I just received a 22 Creedmoor Barrel and plan to run 85.5 Bergers because I have a good supply. I have not even started load development yet, but confident the Bergers will shoot well. For those shooting the Berger 85.5 out of the Creed, what velocity have people found for good terminal performance?

From what I’ve seen, which is minimal, significant yawing and fragmentation in gel. This is a recipe for dead animals but can be unpredictable at low impact velocities.

I can’t make a fully educated guess, as nothing replaces shooting animals for me, but, if I was to hunt with them I’d keep them closer to 2,200-2,500 FPS impact velocity on deer and elk and then further analyze from there.

I’m guessing dead animals is what you will see, would be curious to see detailed photos if you end up killing and don’t mind sharing.

Yeah, will definitely share results, but probably wont be using them on game until the end of the year. I dont have actual velocities from my rifle yet, but if 2500fps is the bottom end for good terminal performance, that would put me at around a 500 meter range. Maybe out to 600. I will start out pretty conservatively. I am just trying to work out an envelope to operate in before I have any actual experience to go off.
