Well. I've decided that I just can't get my pack and gear light enough so I'm gonna have to give up Sheep Huntin. I just can't get my total pack weight under a pound. There's no way I can handle humping all that extra gear weight on top of a whole ram or 2 anymore. Even with the NewGen MonsterLite 9200 pack. Maybe if I buy the new Backcountry InstaDry and dry the sheep meat on the mountain I could do it but the InstaDry weighs a whole pound itself. I should be able to recoup some of my $28,485.43 I've spent on gear though so it won't be a total loss.

Here's my gear list that'll be going up for sale in the near future. Let me know if you see anything you think you could use. Most if it's pretty heavy though. I've got a few other items. Let me know if there's something you need. I may have it.

NewGen MonsterLite 9200ci pack with helium filled frame. This is the updated version rated at 380lb haul capacity. Hauls 258lbs like a dream. 8.0 oz
Uberlight-Ultra TipiTarpTentBiviCombo with unobtanium ripstop threading and heat reflective interior and UberTuff Bear Protection Outer layer 2.3 ozs
MaxiPad MaxLite 0 degree SleepingBag/Quilt/Pad/Chair combo 1.7 ozs
SuperSlam Ti Carbonfiber rifle, 50BMG, VisionQuest OptiView scope with gamefinder/rangefinder/turret reticle combo and SoftShoulder recoil pad. 2.8 ozs
TheBigEye carbon ti 20-80x100mm spotting scope Angled/Straight combo with vision stabilization, night vision and range finder options 3.3 ozs
LittleEyes carbon ti 10x50 binos with vision stabilization and night vision range finder (match to above) 1.1 ozs
LighterThanAir tripod- New helium filled version goes from ground level to 10 ft. and will support up to 300lbs, doubles as a meat pole 1.8ozs
HotAirUltra stove and cookware kit complete with optional dutch oven, espresso maker and self cleaner. 3.3 ozs…a little heavy but worth it
NoTaste water filter with 5 gal reservoir and optional water dehydrator .0375 ozs

If you think you can man-up and pack this heavy load up the mountain and make it out with a full load of meat, horns and cape on top of it well….your more of a man than I am. Have at it. Just don't come crying to me when your back and knees give out cuz you chose to pack that extra .75 ozs up the mtn. You know what they say… If your gonna be dumb then you gotta be tuff

Happy Hunting and remember…. Go Light or Go Home….. guess I'm goin home

With a 10' reach I should be able to smack the hell out of those squirrels!

Negative, I want the tripod, I could use it as a double treestand with Becca and myself with the 300 lb weight limit....step aside Ryan...step aside!!!

Luke where are you going to put the raft? Come on man think this through. Aron will probably take the maxipad:)

Hmm.... It looks to me like you need to get back to basics. Lucky for you, I can help. I'll trade you the whole lot for this Trapper Nelson pack frame, a sporterized 30-40 Krag, and a hudsons bay wool blanket. The Krag even comes with custom maple pistol grip screwed on and a genuine aperture rear sight.

Some blood stains, and the pack creaks a little from hauling out too many goats, sheep and assorted other animals but it should all work fine for your new, less strenuous hobby of hunting squirrels near the back yard bird feeder. It's all useless for modern mountain hunting of course, but that is a high risk sport anyway and you are wise to give it up.

When can we make the trade? I've got a whitetail hunt booked on a ranch in Texas and need to get outfitted ASAP.

YK

PSHHH come on now....even with a raft (or two in this case) I still have room for such a tripod, with the 8500 cu in pack at max capacity....all loaded up for the hiking packrafting trip tomorrow :)

I wanted the rifle setup, but I'm afraid that the ammo is going to blow the pack weight budget. Darn'd, that was just what I was looking for. Seriously, I'll thumb wrestle Ryan for the tripod. 10 ft and doubles as a meat pole... how could you go wrong. Will the tipitenttarpbivy really keep the bears out? Wouldn't need the bear fence if it would.

You guys are going to get some newbie to the ultralight world some ideas about getting your pack gear down to this weight then hes going to get frustrated and quit the sport cause he cant compete. Funny stuff right there. Enjoyed the post hahaha.

Becca's sherpa , what does that load total ?

Snyd , I'll take those Big Eyes and Small Eyes . $10 each sound fair ? PM sent :D.

Ill take the water dehydrator please :D

Crap, how did I miss this? Got so excited about the tripod and the 50BMG that I didn't read the rest carefully. I don't know why you guys in AK need a dehydrator for water anyway.

I want the stove, as long as it's the model with the espresso maker with 2nd gen frother. The 1st gen version had a problem with making proper foam at altitude.

It sure beats carrying the 50 gallon barrel full up into the mountains during sheep season.

I just found another LighterThanAir tripod in my gear closet. If your partner is tuff enough to pack it and you pack yours, you can combine it with the pole from the UbertLight-Ultra TipiTarpTentBivi Combo and do this...

If you wannabe a true ultra-lightweight mountain hunter you can pull the scope off the SuperSlam Ti Carbonfiber 50 bmg...
