Teratorn Backpack Review, By Zach Ploshynsky

The blaze orange crocs behind the shock cord are friggin…

GENIUS

For those of us in locations with hunter orange requirements, seems like an easy way to add at least 100 sq inches.

Oh, and nice write-up!

Because someone asked what I had in the little accessory pouches. They’re clear pouches I got from Amazon. I prefer clear pouches for accessing stuff in a pinch, especially when it’s cold.

Bag on the right is my kill kit:
- nitrile gloves
- 5x game bags
- mini sharp sharpener
- paracord

Top middle bag is medical:
- gauze
- antiseptic
- moleskin
- assorted bandages and triangle bandage
- medical tape
- a few other odds and ends
Tourniquet and a few other things are stored in the waist belt pouch for immediate access.

middle bag is misc stuff:
- Sleep meds for sleeping in extremely high winds or dense grizzly country (poor sleep can ruin a hunt and I’d rather just not know if there’s a Grizz nearby. If I need to know I’ll find out pretty quick.)
- Tylenol
- Benadryl
- Epi pen
- anti diarrhea meds
- extra earplugs (also for sleep)
- small tooth brush and mini toothpaste tube
- extra water purifier tabs
- 1x large body sized “shower” wet wipe for hygiene
- electrolyte usually in form of nuun tablet tube
- mini multi Allen key for tightening scope zero reset, tripod screws, bino arca clamp and other miscellaneous pieces of kit.

Lower middle is batteries and electronics:
- 20000mah Anker battery pack with charging cable for phone and primary headlamp. (Avoid the Cheapo battery packs)
- 12-15x spare AAA batteries for headlamps
- 1x backup headlamp

Left is emergency kit - usually stays in my bino harness:
- signal mirror
- lighter
- water proof matches and fire starter
- small flint
- a few emergency water purifier tabs
- 2x emergency rounds for my 6.5
- 1x emergency coffee crisp or mars bar
- 1x emergency epi-pen
- sometimes emergency foil blanket is included depending on weather.

This list is made off of recollection so there may be more I just forgot about.

A lot of sheep hunters would scoff at this list, saying it’s too heavy and not required. I’ve got a larger frame and am 6’4, so I’m able to pack a little more than some other might recommend and still be comfortable. With time I may slim some of this down, but this is where I’m at currently and quite happy.

Awesome review, thanks! Does this pack have a meat shelf? How easy is it to access and use?

Yes, you can add the EXO crib load panel or use the bottom straps that connect the bag to the frame. I prefer to use the crib panel as it really keeps the load secured. Getting access to it is just like any other K4.

Great thorough review! Well done pointing out what type of hunts this would be best used for

It does. This video should help.
Thank you, very helpful. Looks easier than many other packs I've tried. How do these frames do with a tall skinny guy who has no butt for the lumber to rest on? With many packs I have to tighten the waist belt so much my legs go numb!

I am fairly tall (6’4” 220lbs) and lean as well, have never had an issue. I do squat heavy regularly though so not sure if my experience matters or will apply. Best I can say is if it’s so bad your legs are going numb, start hammering some whole milk, eat like mad, and start squatting heavy (with correct technique of course) if you can.

HaHa, fair enough!! I'm 6'3" and 180 lbs, 50 years old. I do lots of squats every week, still can't get an ass!

Great write up!! My experience is very similar to yours with the wings.. Minus the bear part. it's mostly an annoying inconvenience in thick brush but easily remedied in day hunt mode if the pack is not full.

Curious of your thoughts on the water bottle holder? Personally I LOATHE it!!

It’s not great - pretty crap actually. Always seems to work itself out of the molle and ends up flopping around. Needs some Velcro or a tie off at the end of to keep it on the waistbelt. I’ll be modifying mine accordingly

Curious, how you are attaching them?
I have two of them and never had them come loose even a little.

Mine loosened and I mounted them to exactly as Exo Mtn gear's video. They worked relatively well on the Exo belt but not well on competitors belts.
