Seems this is the division between preference.

If weight is a priority then 1/2 and lighter contour. If weight is not as important, then 5/8. I say I have to agree.

Now, if I could get a custom profile ultralight and flared for 5/8, is that the sweet spot?

Speaking solely for myself, tikka lite contour is plenty light and I'd have no desire to go lighter. Frankly the lite hybrid at 20" and shorter is probably preferred by me to get a little more weight. 5/8 threads regardless if it needed to be flared is my preference as well.

Fluting works, but adds a separate process than turning the blank. For cost effective production, the flare is better.

But, offering a fluted hybrid light would definitely work.

I will add some fluting to popular prefits for sure. I really want one of their 12 Helical flutes on a #3 contour for my next Nucleus barrel.
