I'm working from home-like many of you-and need to add a monitor to my work setup. I am using a Lenovo Ideapad laptop and need to add a 3rd monitor. Am I better off with a docking station or simply VGA to USB converter or is there another better way? I am thinking a 22 to 24 inch basic monitor-no touch screen or anything. I want to go the simplest route and prefer not to add software unless necessary. No gaming or anything and once I go back to an office I might keep 2 monitors so thinking I would get a bit larger monitor and keep it to have 2 for home use later.

Hope everybody is safe. Thanks so much!

A docking station is the best option. Most laptop GPUs don't handle three monitors very well and if they can handle three monitors it taxes the GPU quite a bit.

In a previous job, I would use a docking station to connect my HP Elite book to two monitors. It was great to have all three monitors.
