Looking to a scope to my Savage 12LRP 6.5CM. The rifle is very heavy and is 99% target shooting and 1% box blind whitetail hunting. I have plenty of big game rifles with good optics to carry around so I'm looking for budget scope with a handful of wants and Arken seems to fit the bill. I'd probably consider an SWFA if the had an actual zero stop but they haven't bothered to update that scope for some reason.

EPL4 6-24 is likely the front runner because I already have 30mm mounts but I like the Christmas tree reticle for target shooting and adjustment range the EP5 offers though at a considerable weight and need for new rings.

So talk me out of the EPL4 6-24 or the EP5.

Turrets are mush on one of my swfa scopes, the other is usable but still a long way from Arken. Couldn’t give me another swfa. If you don’t care about weight I’d go ep5.

While I agree that the clicks on the Arken are very good, and the clicks on an SWFA are not I'm curious as to why that is a deciding factor in your search for a scope. Maybe it's the way I shoot, but when I'm dialing I'm not counting clicks...I'm looking at the numbers on my dial and moving it the number of mils that my dope tells me. Do you end up doing a lot of dialing in darker conditions where you can't see the dial?

I can't answer for Wapiti's reply but I can say I don't usually count clicks, I watch the numbers but I have had a certain scope with a gold ring click one time further than the number suggested, almost as if it got between the hash marks, so it is nice to have those tactile clicks to confirm.

I'm personally staying away from SWFA right now as they do not offer the basics that I was wanting.

I have an EP5 and SH4 Gen 2. I have not completely put them through the paces but so far they seem to track well and the glass is good enough. I was amazed at the build quality just going off of feeling. They are extremely robust feeling for the price.

I've dialled the bejeebus outta a SH4 on a 22fimfire to 500 yards. Dials like it has eyes.....They punch WAY above the price point. So much so, that I've ordered a few more of the 30mm ELP's to try out. I haven't bothered to leave a positive review, but will if they pay enough. Good one, dsotm. How much did YOU make?

I have an SH4 Gen 2 and have been pleasantly surprised for the price. Heavy as sin, but track phenomenal and the zero stop is quite honestly the best I’ve ever used.

No issues what so ever with mine. Friend has 4 of the SH4’s and an EP5. No issues there either.

The glass is NOT in the same league as even a $4-$500 SFP optic, but these are Chinese and I think the focus was around the 34mm tube and tracking. Which I’m okay with, since that is why it was purchased.

My only gripe is I bought MOA and wanted MIL 🤦🏼‍♂️

I shoot 500-1 at the range vs hunting and like crisp turrets as a personal preference. I also like a good eye box and my fixed swfa ss have been frustrating in that dept. Swfa zero retention and confidence in its ability to stay together hasn’t been a concern though.

tracking to 300 with a 17 hmr was spot on. I couldn't go further as I couldn't spot misses for the snow at 400. The glass is slightly better than the SH4. Form can test his own......

Ever get to do anymore shooting with the epl4? Trying to decide between a 4-16 epl4, 3-16 stac, or other. Mainly wanting best glass I can in the budget price range. Both of them have good reputations for tracking.
