Talk me out of a straight spotting scope.

I use the angled spotter primarily for the reasons above... let's me keep the tripod lower, and I don't get a kink in my neck as bad. Even high on a ridge looking down, I can have the tripod and angled spotter closer to my body which can help shield it from the wind, and it gives me a very comfortable pose that let's me glass longer I feel. I agree though, it can be more annoying to swap between binos and spotter.
