Taking the NCLEX tomorrow

Tomorrow at 1215 I take the NCLEX, which is the national licensing exam for nurses. I went back to college two years ago after spending several years working as a retail sporting goods manager and a couple years as a high school science teacher. Nursing school was no joke, lots of long hours doing projects, writing papers and working hard in the hospital for free! Sacrificed a lot of time with my family and a lot of time in the woods to make this career change. It all comes to fruition tomorrow. If I pass, I will start my career as a nurse in the Emergency Department in July.

Good luck! I have been there before, such a good feeling to get it out of the way. Once you hit the floor is when the real learning begins. The ER is fun, busy, but fun.

No, it's not IF you pass, it's WHEN you pass. I took it 20 years ago in June and that path was one of the best decisions I ever made, Good luck man, and welcome to nursing, you chose a great career.

Get a couple years under your belt and go just about anywhere in the world you want and have work.

Good luck with your exam! This post comes at an interesting time in my career, I've been considering doing the same thing. I may have to connect with you for some advice once you are finished!

Good Luck!

My daughter took the exam last spring and said it was a tough one. She's a BC RN and that was the first year they incorporated the US exam into the Canadian exam for the RN license.

Good luck! You will kill it, that is what we go to school for.;) You are more prepared for it than you know or think you are. I am also a bit jealous, wish I was in your shoes already.

I'm in my RN program right now....I can see the finish line from here and all my hard work throughout the years is truly starting to show.

Good luck! I'm sure all of those hours of hard work and sacrifice will come back tenfold for you.

I became a nurse 3 years ago and I've been very happy with my decision in a career so far. I've never had a problem finding work, and I get to pick my hours and am available to take time off whenever I want.

Good luck with the NCLEX. Took mine back in 1999. Nursing has been a great career, currently work in the ER but have worked nearly everywhere except L&D

Good luck! I'm a med/surg RN at a VA hospital. Be prepared for lots of delegation questions!

Well, I am finished. Got to test center an hour early and they went ahead and let me test. Got 75 questions (which is the minimum) and then test shut off. I will know within 48 hours whether I passed. I feel pretty good. Test was hard, but not as bad as I thought it would be.

Now it's time to really start focusing on my Colorado Elk hunt :)

Sweet, you nailed it. I had the same results but 20 years ago they made you wait a couple weeks to know whether you killed it or failed it miserably. I'm guessing that you probably killed it based on how you feel. Good job and congrats!
