Has anyone been to both? We have only done TAC's but with the crap show going on this year with sign ups we (6 of us) are looking at some of the Mountain Fest events. Just wondering how they compare to a TAC.

What’s the crap show this year with sign up?
They moved to a new registration platform. Crapped the bed during the first registration for Oklahoma and they suspended registration to reopen it later. Tried the new system twice more and failed miserably. Sent out an email after the 3rd fail saying they were reverting to the original system which is even worse. People are pretty pissed about it.

Hmm ya I’m about to sign up for Terry peak so just curious. Can’t they just do “ tee times” like golf. Seems simple

Enjoyed the heck out of the MAF at lookout pass Idaho last year. But I've never been to TAC to compare. But others say it's wayyyyy more chill. Probably not as many insta-stars. No film crews , drones, etc.

I went to a MAF a couple years back in Utah. The event is organized, targets are good, walking is plentiful. Not many vendors, btu to be fair it was moved at last minute to a different place due to anti hunters raising a stink. Over all they did a good job logistically. With that said, I signed up again, but covid hit, and no refunds given. That was all I needed, and won't do another.
Never did a TAC, but assume its similar. Both great for pre season prep.

MAF is a fun event and the organizer is a good dude. Family friendly, great courses, lots of fun.

I have been to both. Courses are set up the same but there were one tenth the people at maf. Which made it way nicer. Shot two courses a day both times i have gone and never waited in line at a target. I had the exact opposite experience at tac. But they are both fun I just prefer maf

Signed up for Tac on my phone. Zero issues. Are you using dial up service and IE for a browser or something?. Seemed pretty easy to me. You seem awful butthurt that they changed the sight to tacpass.com for signup.. Are you so busy that you can't be bothered to go to another website?

I know my response might seem snide because based on my experience, it wasn't that complicated. Log in, go to event on day it was available for signup, select shooting time, pay, and get email confirmation.. Done

I'm guessing you didn't sign up for TAC like you said you did. They are NOT using TAC Pass buddy. Try again.

I shoot both here in CO a couple of years ago. I recommend both events. TAC had far more shooters as well as vendors. The targets at MAF were very different and some really unusual ones (moving, suspended from tree's and the Pope & Young course while not challenging was a cool concept and fun. Both provided challenging shots and were a ton of fun! I'd gladly shoot both again if the timing works out.

If I had to chose just one ... tough as I like the lower key laid back aspect of MAF, but I enjoy the energy of TAC. In CO ... I prefer Durango (MAF) over Glenwood Springs (TAC) ... MAF is easier to get into and has a more relaxed atmosphere and would likely get my vote.

One other thing, which is just an aside ... The MAF targets had some very strange scoring rings (IMHO). Not where you would typically expect them to be. A couple of guys I know that shot the 3D comp they had agreed that you really had to look closely at the rings ... if scoring is important to you versus simply putting the arrow where you want it.

Nope. I suggest you keep reading beyond that line on the page.

How is this nope? Are you attempting to gas light me?

I've paid and I've gotten confirmation for the slot i want. At this point if I show up for the event and they say "you're not registered for this event and we won't honor your confirmation email" I'll have a discussion with the event coordinator and gladly post it here... But, whatever... believe what you want and I'll believe what I want.

Fair?

Sign up for the first few 2022 events was via the new TAC Pass system they rolled out this year. It was a miserable failure and they reverted to the previous registration system.

I was logged into TAC Pass and ready to go 15 minutes before registration opened for the Oklahoma event. The site crashed at the payment stage, registration was paused, reopened at noon, crashed again, paused again, rescheduled for another day. Somewhere in there I was able to successfully register and pay. It was annoying but it won't keep from continuing to shoot TAC.

You are giving out bad information. They are NOT using TAC pass. They went back to the old method of sign ups. TAC pass is not working. Fact.
