T084 on a Magnum?

Had the same issue on my 245/6.5 with a SWFA 6x. I ended up moving the scope further back to correct the issue. I believe I've seen a picture of someone taking a lathe to knob to remove the ridges as well.

Im sure the rubber cap works fine but I would rather mill the existing cap or raise the scope and add a cheek riser personally.

Where did you get that cap?
Amazon. I'd put a link, but the one I bought are not available any more. They are flexible vinyl chair leg caps, they are cheap. I ordered a couple to get one that was like I wanted. The thin shiny vinyl ones stretch nicely (vs. the rubber ones that are thick and dull in color). Size is 7/8 or .875. They have a nice spring and fit very firmly over the o ring on the scope (ID of cap is .875, scope OD is .900). The ones I got that I like best are a little long and needed trimmed with scissors or belt sander.

I like the idea of milling the existing cap, but the way it is made it is hollow all the way to the end, so you can't really take much length off before you hit the hollow (if you remove length or very much diameter, you bust into that inner chamber). I thought about filling the hollow with something like epoxy and milling, but that just seemed like more work than I wanted.

In serious backcountry, I carry the allen key with me to remove the top one and switch it over to the windage if I had to adjust in the field.

I have an EGW 20MOA Rail and I picked up some NF High Rings to try. I’ll update if that gives me enough clearance. Really hopeful I don’t run into the same on the “ Rokslide Special” I’m working up.

The benefit of the Sportsmatch is that it uses the integral rail and reduces the potential failure points. But Tikka stocks are also not particularly suited to high mounted optics without comb mods. Sportsmatch does make high rings, if you do some looking for them. But my preference is to keep things simple, low, and avoid added weight. The issue you are trying to deal with is the ridiculously huge windage turret on the SWFA scope. Once zeroed, I hold for windage instead of dialing, so the turret isn’t needed. And removing the windage turret also reduces the chance of adjusting itself at a random, unfortunate time by rubbing on a case, scabbard, truck seat, or other gear.

I agree with the benefits of the Sportsmatch rings. My concern is there is not very clear specs on height difference between the two (Mediums and highs). I think I’ll be in the same boat. The rubber cap seems to be a good fix just seems like it has its own failure possibilities.

I think it’s 6mm (1/4”) between med and tall.
