What kind of shelter were you in? To me, it sounds like you had a venting issue if you were accumulating that much moisture.

Its happened to me multiple times....Its not the shelter...its the days on end where the moisture is at 98% plus and everything is soaked. The air is heavy with moisture nothing dries. Its no fun sliding into a damp bag but in those conditions I prefer synthetic. It sounds like you have used a stove in those conditions which is preferable of course. I have too on some trips and it helps immensely.

Liner; Stephensons [warmlite] pioneered that liner idea ages ago...and i've tried it decades ago...didn't like it.

Sounds like Western Mountaineering might have a quilt in the works, but won't be out until sometime in 2018.....

Just got a 0 degree long quilt from Viam. I did the heavier material both inside and out for durability. It is in the Extra Long and Wide version and it weighs in at 3.7lbs. Even with the custom order, I got it in under 2 weeks and the build quality is amazing, I cannot find a flaw and it seems like it will have great durability. The only surprise was its size. In its sack it is about 10" x 20". I will measure later when I get home for exact measurements. It does feel like it could compress some, but not a lot more. I am going to get a stuff sack and as long as it will lay sideways in the bottom of my bag Inwill be happy.

Nevermind, I see it now... Wish it went lower than 20.

That being said, can anyone comment on their temperature ratings? Is a 20 degree quilt good to 20 or so? Or are you about to freeze if it gets to 20?

Can't wait to see what's new from EE. I'm also anxious to see the kifaru quilt

South Sound fellow quilt user here. I'm still rocking the 10 degree Revelation Quilt and am still content with it's performance in the wet. The hydrophobic down has impressed the hell out of me.

Disclosure: I'm almost always running a hot tent in the wet and cold (cimarron or 6-man tipi each with a stove). But in the less wet or warm days, I run a tarp.

My quilt is wet every morning even if a well vented tent. Just body moisture I’d guess. But it’s never lost loft. I have the treated down.

I am looking for recommendations on a synthetic quilt. What brands are you guys using? I currently have an EE down quilt that I really like but have had issues with condensation making it lose loft. So I thought I'd give synthetic a try even if there is a weight penalty.

Looking for something in the 10-20 degree range.

Outdoor Vitals has a 20° Synthetic quilt. I've never used it, but the reviews on it are noteworthy!

Treated down EE quilt user. I’ve had lots of moisture all over it and have still been very happy with its performance. I have run synthetic too (in sleeping bags not quilts). I have worn damp clothes to bed and still not wetted out the down. Nothing is perfect but I would have a hard time going back to the weight and bulk of a synthetic system.

To follow up on what I ended up getting and using...I went with the VIAM synthetic quilt and was quite happy with it. I am a cold sleeper and I’ve started to realize that I like having more weight on me when I sleep...which my fiancé hates. In Wyoming this fall we had a variety of weather from freezing dry cold, snow, and rain.

One night it was blowing & raining like crazy when all of a sudden I woke up to something cold across my face. Turns out the stakes had pulled loose in the muddy ground and the Cimarron my hunting partner and I were in was about to fly away. In a rush I slipped on my boots ran outside and did my best to restake the tarp. I ended up getting back in my quilt soaked and the tarp definitely wasn’t properly pitched. Woke up in the morning warm and dried out and was really pleased with the performance of the synthetic insulation. My hunting partner wasn’t so lucky in his down bag.
