I was counting sheep last night and thinking through if I wanted to test with turrets first or the cover cap things first. If they both work, might even pull them off and the taped on vinyl cap to be a smartass to the naysayers.

I cut off the windage post and taped on a chair cap on my last 6X. I will immediately do the same with whichever one I buy next.

Sure, it would probably help. But it isn’t as simple as swapping to a different turret design here. If they change to a low profile turret- that’s a completely redesigned erector system and probably a whole new scope design from the ground up… and you can kiss $300 and $600 scopes goodbye.

The reason that there is a quality, generally very reliable and durable scopes for $300/$600/$700 is precisely because they are simple and the design is long ago paid for.

I don't get it. Why can't they just cut down the post, machine a notch in the end for adjustment, and install a minimalist cap?

Trying to satisfy the three people who buy their scopes and dial windage?

does anyone have a mark 4 10x and a swfa 10x fixed to compare if they both hold up to hard use?

You must’ve got a bad one or something. My 2-10 ultralight is very clear and bright on 10x. Others have commented on how good the glass was when they looked through my scope, as well.

I bought one a few months ago for a 22 rimfire and the glass was terrible as well as the lens flare.

My 2-10 sucked so bad in the ER department I gave it to the kid down the street. It's very comforting to know if you buy one of these SWFA's off the site you also need rubber caps, tap and die, and a hacksaw to make it serviceable

The power zoom is backwards on the 3-15 that’s f-ing stupid as heck.

I never cared, I just use it. I actually forgot it was backwards until this reminded me

Again I just use them. I did turn the knurls off the turrets on a couple but that's it. I don't care that the windage sits proud. Maybe because I used those old Leupold's with the tall MK4 knobs that stuck out just as far? Never had issue with those either.

They aren't cool to look at but they usually work.

I'm pretty hard to please, and think most scopes are fugly, but I have to respectfully disagree. Super Chicken aside, I've always thought SWFA scopes have an understated, workman-like appearance. They just look like they will work.

That's not what I'm saying at all.

Honestly, I modify everything I own.
