I've had my eye on an SWFA scope for a very long time and regretted not getting one years ago when you could one easy or their big sales where scopes were well under $300. To say I'm stoked they have come back out with this line of scopes would be an understatement. I've always liked the turret style on these and how simple they are. The different turret configurations are pretty cool and gives options to setup what you want.

I've got a Tikka T3 I want to rebuild into a light weight hunting rifle and I think that a 3-15 would would be perfect for that. I want to take advantage of the sale but also want to see Form do a durability test.

For those complaining about turrets snagging and banging something's. This is a 10X side focus that was zeroed in the spring ony brother's rifle. No zero stop, regular adjustable windage.

It went in and out of a soft case many times since being zeroed, strapped to a pack for 10ish miles over 3 walks that day, and then dialed for a 300yd successful kill. The last mile was a hand carried rifle (he didn't buy a sling yet--> budget restrictions) that involved crawling under a fence and crawling a bit to get a shot. His hunting experience is a day in 2021, a half day in 2023, and a day in 2024.

Turrets never hung up in the real world or rotated until he dialed in his shot solution...

I’ve been regularly using the SS only since the end of 2021. I’ve never had an issue snagging. Maybe if I was using a scabbard of sorts it would cause an issue. I did have brass bouncing back into the chamber on one setup, but I suspect it’s because the knurling as Form mentioned. Sure a sleeker profile is better, but I’m absolutely happy with the look of the new turret options at the current price.

I said this in another thread, but figured I’d add it here.

Check out the URL for the 10x42 MQ. It looks like they made a 6x42 web page and copied the format for the 10x42 page.

Not holding my breath, but hopefully that means a 6x42 will be available too.

They spent a lot of time not producing products that work to come out with a relatively minor facelift. I still consider the warranty worthless given recent history and I doubt their commitment to keeping items in stock.

The lighter weight is nice, but also makes me question if reliability is the same.

Plus, I already picked up two RS1.2s, if they had been a few months earlier, I would probably have one on the way.

So, right now I will sit back and wait. Interestingly, if the 3-9 was I stock I would have probably bought another (I only tolerate the 15x on the Maven, but certainly don't want it).

Perhaps they are going to run through the backorders before showing them on the website.

The downside to the Gen1 3-15x was image degradation above ~12x on some units. All the Gen1 I have tried were like that.

If Gen2 fixed that, it'll be huge.

The side focus is not very robust, but I haven't heard of many failures in terms of seal leaks.

Even if it didn’t you’d have a nice 3-12 which is a great range

Perhaps someone was paying attention to complaints of "the market" and asked themselves why the 3-9 was a better seller than the 3-15 and decided it was the weight. Turret attachment was "upgraded" to be on par with the 3-9, the reticle remains the same, but isn't a hindrance.

According to many here, the 3-15 should be sold out already..."killing it".
-Aside from appearance what appear to be longer turrets are TBD on durability, folks have bent turrets on scopes.
-The company has been a ghost for 2years.
-The upper magnification glass had mixed reviews previously.

Those are legitimate not superficial reasons folks might be thinking over the value proposition of the 3-15. It’s not a few hundred like a 6x would be to try the new form/function. Yes a maven or trijicon are more but it’s a big chunk of change towards those.

I am curious about the 3-15 all that said but I am letting it all sink in vs swiping a card.

Synopsis of a conversation that's been going on since late spring...

Guy- I need a scope for my daughter. Something reliable that will last a long time.
Me- Nightforce SHV
Guy- eewwwe no, 30oz?! $1400?! Yucky
Me- ok rs1.2, lighter but with a smaller sample of reliability
Guy- eewwwe yucky! $1200?! She needs the best but how about under $1k?
Me- Bushnell LRHS2
Guy- eeww yucky, a Bushnell? This is going on her carbon barreled magnum in a chassis. I'm not putting a $900 Bushnell on that! How about something reliable but under $700?
Me- buy a fixed 6X SWFA for the market price of $500.
Guy- eeww yucky! This is going on a magnum with a carbon barrel and in a chassis! We need way more magnification to shoot out to 700yds! How about something in the low 20ozs, reliable, that is in the teens magnification, and I der $700? She needs the best.
Me- This new SWFA 3-15X
Guy- eww yucky! Those turrets will bang all the things! (Guy actually did post in one of these threads saying just that)

That rifle is a Tikka 6.5prc and hasn't had any issues.

So what vortex or whatever does he really want to buy and is hoping you will validate his choice?

Maybe the 2-10x36 trijicon credo?

I might be a bit of a fanboy, but i like the look of the new 3-15 a whole whole lot.

I drag my OG 3-15 through all manner of swampy bullshit all the time and knock on wood, haven't had a turret spin accidentally or brass bounce off of it.

Haha precisely! The Razor lht or the new Leupold 4 something was the last specific model mentioned. "The turrets lock!"

RE: your prior post, I have bent the turret on an RS1.2 and so has another person here. It takes a good bit of whacking to do so, but is possible. I can see where the SWFA ones appear to be more vulnerable, but think if they get bent there aren't many scopes that also would see the same damage.

Image quality always seemed adequate to me with the old 3-15 we had before. I also think of aiming device before optical device. For an under $700 budget option, a something has to be prioritized (functionality?) over something else ("glass").

My 6 year old has a 10x on his 10/22 with the same open diamond reticle. He seems to understand when shooting to 200yds that using the reticle on the dirt poof means he can fix misses.

I think in the world of consumerism there's significant confusion between need and want, and I think a lot of that stems from insecurity and lack of confidence. (Practice vs Purchase)

Never going to get your answers asking questions on any forum. The smart thing to do is email SWFA.
I did at 5 A.M. Asking if they were ever going to get 6x SS. At 7:33 A.M. Michael a product technician responded:
Yes, we will have the SS6X42 again. We didn’t have them in stock for this sale.

Gents, the FNG isn’t kidding us. Could it be!?

As an FNG myself... read above.

I take solace in the 3-9 not being on the discontinued page and that the fixies still are available with the milquad. Maybe 2025 will be our year 😂

Anyone else notice the christmas tree reticle on the reticle page?

Looks like another Easter egg, similar to the 6x42 url.

I'm sure some will love that. I'll stick with the MQ reticle myself.

I don't know what people expected, but this seems right on par for the price. Maybe they didn't want to include the 6x or the 3-9 in the sale pricing, as they think they will sell regardless. Also, do we really believe that those are their best sellers? Or just the best sellers from people on this website? Most new people come here asking for more magnification than that and ridiculed for it. Lower power is not the norm outside of this world.
