Recently acquired another 6x SWFA. I immediately noticed the turrets on this one are MUCH better than the one I already have. It’s almost night and day and much closer to the positivity of maven or NF.

I’ve heard running the Swfa caps a bunch helps, and/or removing some of the grease. Mainly just looking for anyone who experienced with Swfa and cleaning these up. Or did I win the lottery and just accept my other turrets aren’t as good.

For reference - I have another 6x and a 3-9 and have owned the 3-15 and 3-9s in the past as well. So it’s not the first go around with the scopes.

Curious as well I got a 3-15 directly from SWFA 1st gen and noticed the turrets were not very positive, sort of mushy. Then I got another 3-15 used 1st gen and clicks were very positive. Then a used 6x same thing very positive.

its certainly not a big deal, but the other turrets feel great and if someone has a solution or a tip id like to know to make my 3-15 like the others.

you're not alone, hopefully someone has some insight or a pro tip.

Yeah not a huge deal, and it hasn’t been a problem using the scopes to date as is or it’s primary purpose of shooting animals and maintaining zero. I suppose if I never got one with better turrets in hand I would likely never look to “fix” it.

Same here, if I never would have acquired the other 2 I wouldn’t even look into it scope functions like it should as is.

I've got close to 10 SWFAs in the arsenal and they run the entire gamut from mushiest turrets on planet Earth to most satisfying clicks I've ever felt lol. No rhyme or reason, or idea what's different. They all track like they've got eyes

Interesting to hear. I’ve only used a handful of SS fixed 6Xs and one 3-9X. Compared to the crisp feel of all three 6X turrets, the 3-9X was very mushy. Not all of them feel that way?

My two 10X are the worst. Two 3-9 are 'ok'. Older 6x the best in terms of crisp adjustment feel. All track perfectly though

Resurrecting this thread... took my first SWFA out today and BOY is it mushy... windage being way worse than elevation, but I don't plan on dialing wind.

I also went to re-set the turrets to zero after sighting in, and the elevation turret refuses to line up with the hash mark on the scope. Each click places the mark on the scope somewhere between the marks on the turret. The windage lined up.

I suppose in the field I can try to remember that it's "on" whatever mark that it's slightly in front of... I'll take zero retention over perfect alignment, but still irritating.

Looks like you have the 3-9. Those have been more mushy than the other scopes. When I reached out to SWFA, they recommended I set the scope upright in the sun the melt the grease in the effector setup. This helped my 10x substantially, it’s now my favorite scope

Th slightly off turret can be remedied by loosening it, aligning true and tightening it. Easy fix

Thanks, unfortunately it doesn't work; neither loosening the screw and aligning the turret, nor removing the screw and turret completely then placing it back on. The mark on the scope body still falls halfway between the marks on the turret.

Bummer, like you say not a big deal. But it would bug me for sure.

I bought 3 of the 3-9s at black friday. First one I mounted was on my 6cm and it was great, nice positive clicks. Threw one on an AR last night and went to sight it in today and it might as well not have clicks. Very disappointed with that. Though now I know to test them first as this may have a lot to do with which one goes on which guns. Both my 6s and my 3-15 were all decently positive.

Yeah, just messing around with it in the house dialing to my known dope I actually confused myself a couple times as to what I was actually dialed to... granted, in the field it would only be a 0.1mil difference if I was wrong, and as a .223 this gun will likely never shoot the distances where that will matter much, at least not in a hunting situation.

I reached out to SWFA, will post what I learn. It's inconvenient enough to see if there's a fix but not so bad that I'd bother removing/replacing the scope after going through the sight-in process. Ammo ain't free!

I have a 3-9 that the windage knob is in the middle. Was shooting today and thought how annoying it was. If I view it from above it looks okay, but straight on and it’s in the middle. I tried to fix with the screw but didn’t work

Is there a way to correct the mushyness with a oring change or something? Feel like i recall reading that at some point.
