I am in no hurry to buy. Why the 3-9 for hunting? I use a 4-12 scope now and like the higher magnification for the longer shots.

It's just a better scope. The 3-9 is the HD series the 3-15 isn't.
3-9 pros, much better turrets, more compact, lighter, cheaper, I prefer the reticle, while the glass in either is adequate the 3-9 is definitely better.

3-15 pros, higher magnification and AO.

The 3-9 outclasses it in every way on an all around big game rifle. There's nothing in its price class that compares. I don't remember the black Friday price but I think its south of $500.

How far do you want to shoot? Personally I have no need for more than 9x on a big game rifle. I think a lot of guys use to much magnification to their detriment. They can't keep a site picture to spot hits or misses and follow ups are more difficult.

The 3-15 is a great scope too. I have two of them and have dialed out to a mile with it. I have ffp on a 300saum hunting rifle and sfp on a 6.5 cm.

For 600 definitely 3-9.

I will add if you think you need the higher X's the 3-15 is also 1 of only a small handful of scopes that's a reliable dialer in that <25oz range.

No. Only what I've read on 24hr. Very short eye relief.
