SWFA currently has both a 3-9x42 and the Gen 2 3-15x42 in stock according to website. I have never purchaed a scope from SWFA, mostly because of the ugly turrets, so this will be my first. I'm probably going to put it on my kids' 223 Tikka compact, but I might put it on my 18" 6.5 Creedmoor instead. Rifles are used as trainers and for hunting whitetails and occassionaly coyotes, so I don't need to be able to shoot these to 800 yards. I'll practice out to 600 when I can but most everything will be sub 400.
As much as I enjoy the increased magnification at the bench, I know it's not necessary for what I'm doing. I'm leaning 3-9 because the reticle appears to be slightly bigger and thus easier to see on low power.
If you vote for something else: I'm slowly transitioning everything to MIL/MIL, so don't suggest an MOA-only scope. Doesn't have to be FFP but both of these are.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts and experience. Thanks in advance.
