Are recent samples of SWFA SS HD 5-20x50 scopes as good as they were 10-12 yrs ago? I had one about 10 yrs ago and I was quite surprised how clear and bright the glass was for the price. It was a good scope for me. How are the current ones performance wise/glass quality vs more modern brands’ offerings in the $1500-$2k price range? Does it still compare favorably with scopes in that price range? I see there is a mod for a make shift zero stop. I can live with the reticle. I know the scope is robust. Just curious as to glass compared to the current brands’ models.

Thanks.

Unless you can find one used they aren’t currently offering any of the 5-20 models. I bought a non illuminated 5-20 in 2023 and it has been solid so far. It’s held zero rattling around my crummy for 2 seasons and a few mild bumps and tumbled.

I have 2 of the illuminated 5-20x50's that I bought 2 years ago and they are solid. They hold zero and have better than decent glass. Not quite as good as Trijicon glass, but good. You can get zero stop shims on eBay.
