SWFA on 223?

Picked up a Tikka t3x superlite.
Going to use for training/practice for family and coyote.

Wouldn't mind running the 6x but think might be to much for close coyote/predators.

Planning on 3x9 hd, the 3x9 has better glass than the 3x15?
 
I recently purchased a few SWFA fixed 10 powers to mount on a few of my varmint rifles. Absolutely one the best decisions I made.
I'd wait for SWFA to do one of their sales before purchasing one. They do some pretty good deals every big holiday.
 
It depends on what environment you hunt coyotes in regularly. I've hunted coyotes in areas where a fixed 6 or 10 power scope isn't ideal. Sometimes I can't call in a smart coyote any closer than 300 yards. Other times they come screaming in to shotgun range. In either scenario I like the adaptability of a variable magnification scope. Granted, I don't always have time to adjust my scope. Otherwise I would miss a shot opportunity.

Just something to think about if you're doing a lot of coyote hunting.

I think a fixed 6 is great for general purpose hunting. I think a fixed 10 is great for target practice. I don't think either tick all the boxes I want in a scope for coyote hunting.

I think it is easy to over glass a 223 / 556. 6x would be fine. 3-9x gives you some variability.

I have one wearing a 3-9x and it is great for everything I use it for. I also had a 4-14x Nikon scope and bought a 223 bolt gun for it. It gets used on ground hogs and being able to dial in tight for a precise headshot is handy.
 
Close dogs is the hang up on the 6x,
The 3x9 glass is better than the 3x15 ?
 
I have the 6x in moa and a 3-9. I prefer the 3-9. The reticle is about the perfect size for 50-400 yards, not the most precise but very usable. No parallax but what do you expect for the money.

The only thing I don’t care for on the swfa is that the turrets done always line up with zero.

I have that same setup, a t3x lite stainless 223 with an 8 twist topped with the swfa 3-9hd

What loads are you shooting in 223?
 
My Tikka T3X Superlite wears a SWFA 3-9 in Sportsmatch rings and I added the very grip. It’s probably my favorite rifle. No fuss, shoots great, lightweight, etc.

I’ve shot it a ton from 50 to 750 yards. No issues with that scope. I shot a badger this spring at about 120 yards, and plenty of small gophers under 100. I kept it between 4-6 power for the closer stuff.

I should also say I have the SWFA 3-15 on another rifle and they’re both great scopes. I think the turrets and glass in the 3-9 is slightly better but not enough to shy me away from their standard line.

I will be buying the sportsmatch rings also, 1st tikka for me.

I'm putting together kimber subalpine in 300 wsm also but will be wearing bushnell elite lrhsi 4.5x18 Hawkins rings, egw rail
