SWFA Gen 2 Fixed 6 - when??

The "medium" turret knobs are arguably better than the "small" and "large" choices on the 6x.
Agree with your points. Parallax adjustment isn’t really an issue on hunting guns. Maybe on 22s.

I set my 6x at 300 and left it there all last season. So parallax isn’t a huge factor as far as I’m concerned. Then again I set my 3-9 at 6x as well so as you pointed out, basically the same thing.

I've picked up a gen 2 6x, already had a gen 1 and have an older 3-9. If I am honest I prefer my LRTS scopes more than any of these but they are discontinued, heavier, more expensive. These SWFA are much more cost effective and lighter yet still durable. If I was saving weight on a rifle they are a no brainer for easy ounces compared to some other reliable scopes.

Out of the above SWFA options for a general big game hunting scope I personally prefer the 3-9 but for the cost/performance the 6x are a great buy and help keep reliable scopes on rifles in my gun case. I swear the extra guns are "for the kids"... haha. On that kids note when training my preference is to put a 6x scoped rifle in their hands to try and break their habit of cranking variable scopes to maximum magnification whenever they get behind one despite repeatedly telling them to back off max and keep a larger FOV / eyebox window. Proof is in the pudding as they say and when the visual muscle memory is hitting targets a 6x magnification they'll be less apt to zoom to 9x, 12x, etc. whatever max a scope has.

As noted the clicks on the gen 2 6x are nicest, the small turrets really aren't that obnoxious (the covers are though). Windage I would run the small turret uncapped for the smallest footprint with tape to secure for piece of mind against a strap rubbing causing it to spin or such.
and no zero stop

These shims seem to do the trick well and are fairly easy to set. I suppose the main downside is needing the extras in your range bag (or such) if rezeroing. I would certainly prefer if the 3-9 had a built in zero stop but I wouldn't let the lack of it stop me if that was the scope I wanted to use.
