SWFA Black Friday

I don’t always crank it to 15x but when I have a stationary critter at 600+, I like the extra magnification but I suppose at that point, the 9x would be fine…

I wound up with a 10x since the 6x was never available. Im about to order another one and for my use in NW WY I'm not sure I would want a 6x if it was available.

I shot a mule deer at 648 yards with the 10x this year. I regularly shoot steel at that range and beyond. Seeing that deer through the scope at that range at 10x, I dont think I would want to go smaller. To reiterate, I've never looked through a 6x just my observation with limited experience.

wheres the low turrets someone was gonna build for these, i hate these big turrets or i wouls buy 10 of the 3x9

Is the fixed 6x42 MIL available in the sale?

Even if it’s not on sale, that’s probably the best all around western hunting and shooting optic available currently. From reliability, reticle design, and having users not dick around with “zoom” and add more issues to the shot process, it can’t be beat.

The 3-9 would be the next best choice, particularly if you regularly shoot and hunt past 500-600ish yards.
I'll never forget the first couple hunts (Thursday and Saturday) my then 5 year old had his own rifle. He must have cranked the 3-9 scope up and down 200 times. This was 31 years ago. I took my ass to town that Monday evening and bought a 4x scope.

I will usually have mine dialed to the highest setting for anything at 100 yards and further. Since low magnification sucks on ffp scopes, I don’t drop mine below 6x.
I have the exact opposite opinion of the 3-9. At 3x the reticle is still very visible. My rifle lives on 3x and I’ve shot deer in thick timber past 100 yards at 3x. Absolutely no issues. The buck I shot last year was around 250 and I would’ve taken the shot at 3x without hesitation. I think I was at 5-6x since I had time to crank it up.

I’ve taken it to 1000 yards on steel and found it more than acceptable, but I am not one to shoot that far on game, especially not on a 6.5 Grendel.

That being said, I know a lot of guys like a lot of magnification for shooting deer at close range. I just can’t understand why.

I find if I have a 3-9 on a rifle it’s probably around 6 most of the time. With the fixed 6 I set the parallax to 300 and shot animals from 50 yards to 450 yards.

Even with higher magnification scopes - 15x on a maven for example - I didn’t crank past 8 for any shots on game.

I’m in a similar boat but with a maven rs1.2. May sell it for almost two 3-15 so my trainer and hunting rifle match.

I’ve owned a 3-15 a few years back, does anyone know if the V2 got a bump in glass quality?

I went from a roughly 8-9 year old SFP 3-15 to a new FFP 3-15 Gen 2 V2 reticle. Glass is nearly the same. The new scope does seem to have better clarity at max magnification. Resolving whistle pigs under sage brush at distance just seems to be easier with the new scope. Could also be the less obstructive reticle.

I do prefer the RS1.2 glass a bit more though.

It’s more accurate for me. I’ve never had any issues getting on game inside 100 yards with a scope at 9 or 10x. Zooming a scope is dang near automatic and doesn’t delay any shooting opportunities for me.

I am one of the weirdo’s that prefers the
3-15 over the 3-9 and don’t care for fixed power options.
As reliable as the variable power scopes are you don’t gain anything going fixed.
Wishing the 5-20 was back this back Friday but no luck.

What reticle does SWFA put into their 5-20? Mil-quad v2?

If your Minox is has the THLR reticle, there's likely at least half a dozen people here who would buy it from you ... especially as it sounds as if @EuroOptic have sold out of the latest batch.
You missed the point. At one time Form posted that the Maven RS1.2 was the best Western hunting scope on the market. Then I saw he posted that the Minox ZP5 THLR was the best scope around at any price. And now he posted that the "SWFA 3-9x has no equal on the market at any price". Yet he uses the gen 2 3-15x on his Mk12. 🤷‍♂️

Now.......I'm a glass snob, as close to perfect clarity as I can get reigns supreme with me. I have found many rifle and spotting scopes unusable because they got so grainy as the power went up. But I'm also frugal as all get out, which generally doesn't bode well in the optics market. I'm looking forward to trying this Minox out.

Is there a discount code? Mine doesn’t seem to give the Black Friday price and don’t want to hit pay with the regular price still showing.
