I’m looking at purchasing a set of used 12x50 ELs from a local guy. Appear to be in great shape and has receipt from 2018 Cabelas purchase.

What’s a reasonable purchase price? Based on year, is this a prior generation model, or would it be the equivalent of one purchased today?

Agree with the comment above, they are the current model (assuming the serial # reflects a 2018 model year). $2k seems to be the going rate for 12x field pro’s.

Is there an easy way to tell whether it’s field pro? Would it say on the receipt?

The objective covers are attached and flip down on the field pros. Also, the strap attachments on the field pros are rounded swivels. That’s probably the easiest way to tell.

The first two numbers of the serial number (after the letter) plus 30 is the year of manufacture (88 means 2018).

I believe there is no difference optically in any of the "swarovision" binos, which were released in 2011, so if they are newer than that, they are as good as any.

"Field Pro" has the articulating harness mounts and newer style covers (no rubber band around the barrel), but they should be the same glass as the generation before them.

Anyone know which gen these EL are, and if $1500 is a decent price?

I am considering buying a pair of 12x50 Els too so I called Swarovski CS to get the skinny on versions and they told me the latest generation of ELs started in 2015 so anything with a S/N with a numbers >= 85 in positions 2 & 3 means you have the latest gen of the EL.
