Personal opinion, would look at a series 60 landcruiser, 62 if you want an auto.

Strong trucks, heavy/sturdy if that is what you want. There is a reason guys build rock trucks out of them. Could get a gasser and convert a 4bt later on, if your into that type of thing. Good trucks that you can find a lot of good parts for.

Mileage on a 6 cyl 2f toy engine isn’t that great though.

Get onto I h8mud.com for anything Toyota, forum has classified section for vehicles etc, great forum to learn on.

Good luck

Think I'm pretty set after some reading on an 80 or 100 series LC. Streetable, with some creature comforts. The 80 being slightly more capable and slightly less comfortable (but also maybe more of a "classic" than the 100 series.

Hoping to find one with a V8 swap, or do one myself.

Figured I'd close out the thread with the results.

Ended up selling the diesel and picking up this 80 Series Land Cruiser, V8 swap completed, the only thing original left on suspension/drive train is the TC..should do the trick...interior needs some TLC, but then again, it's a 24 years old...to be expected. Will be a fun toy to tinker with this winter in the garage.

Now to find a cheap/fuel efficient commuter.

It's only got a center locker. Have some of the money from my sale set aside for ARBs front and rear.
