Howdy all!

I backpacked into SW Colorado this weekend and things are looking good! Berries are looking really good (and plentiful) and that appears to be the majority of diet, based on the evidence. I bumped a big one at 20 yards in the thickest berry patch that I scouted. Water was plentiful.

Acorns are small.

3 weeks ago I saw two bears above 12'800 feet eating moths in the rocks. Supposedly just a short window of time that they are up that high.

Are they eating the acorns yet?

I haven’t seen them hitting acorns yet.
You might try Kip’s in Pagosa Springs, though.

Ive seen them targeting acorns at around 7,400’. Oaks seem heavier to me than I’ve noticed for the last couple years. But I haven’t found the berries, or an acorns above 7,600. None. What elevations/aspects have you been finding the berries? And what kind?

Can’t believe I’ve never noticed this until this year but one of my regular glassing spots has a bunch of black berries growing between 11,600 and 12,100 on the approach. That’s the highest I’ve ever seen them growing. I checked out another spot with choke cherries out the ass at 9,000 feet.

It's hit or miss this year on the berries and acorns that June freeze killed alot of oakbrush it is really elevation and canyon dependent on what got hit and what survived
