I’m looking at putting up some cameras on a small woodland plot next to a river. I want to be able to keep an eye on the property and get a few pictures/videos of deer and game. I have looked at the tacticam defend 360. What are everyone’s experiences with this setup or other setups you have used. Thanks!

I don't have experience with tacta cam, but I do have experience with Stealth Cam, and they have been stellar over the last several years. The app is easy to use, and the data plans are pretty affordable.

Moultrie Edge. Simple user interface. They don’t take SD cards. I’ve found they use the least amount of batteries if you have adequate cell service. They pick up ATT or Verizon service. Trigger distance is good. Lithium batteries were still over 50% on this camera after 4 months when I turned it off.

I have 2 Stealth 360 Gen 2 and they work pretty good. The 360 is badass, we watch 2 buildings, a driveway, and a field with one - second one is in an open field to deter trespassing. Need to put RainX on the lenses to keep dew from building up. Downside is that deer look at it when it goes off. You can see the IR go off at night.

Have 2 Tactacam regular - is a good way to go. About a minute faster (within 2 minutes) than the Stealth on alerts and I just like the app a bit better. Downside is that this is basically a regular cell cam. It catches most things. Not the best images, but not worst either.

If you want to catch license plates, neither will work well.

Both will catch cars going by the road if they face the road. For whatever reason vehicles set these things off (cell and regular trail cameras), even at longer ranges. Be careful about having a clear shot at the road.

Caught 3 vehicles spotlighting my place this past season - all ya can see is the light facing camera. Neighbor had em on cam too - neighbor said he did not hear any shots tho. Wonder if it is another neighbor's grandkids being bored and not actually targeting deer.

I use the regular Defend, not the 360 as a surveillance cam on my camp. I previously used the Reveal Trail cams and have been happier with the Defend in this application. Images are clear and the ability to flip to live view instantly along with a cheaper yearly plan is the difference.

I have the Spycam Flex with solar charger. Pretty happy with it so far. Put it out Jan 1 and haven't had to go back since.

I went with the unlimited photos plan.

Trigger speed is ok. Sensitivity is ok. Pic quality is ok.

I'm using it mostly to scout deer, bear, and turkey. They tend to move slow enough to get good pics. The fisher is blurry when he is moving through unless he stops to check something. But those things never walk. They just haul ass from place to place looking for a fight.

I use tactacams. Buy their lithium battery and solar panel and as long as the panel gets good sunlight the battery is indefinite, even on a feeder or bait pile.

Ive tried many brands and landed on Moultrie. I currently use the Edge, Edge Pro (Mossy Oak Bottomlands), Edge 2, and Edge 2 Pro. Out of the 4, the original Edge Pro in Mossy Oak Bottomlands, are the best cameras. I have 6 of them in use. I can load them up with Energizer Lithium AA batteries, place them in a high traffic area, and with the correct setting they will last me nearly a year! The newer Edges work great too, but i put cameras out up to 4-5 miles deep, some 3 hours away, and I value long battery life.

We've been using stealth cams for a management property for 3 or so years now with good success.

App is fairly straightforward for the non technical folks. I like that the app allows for sharing of the feed, so if multiple people want to see they can use their own login, but only the owner has control of the settings. We have 8 deployed in various pastures with no failures that aren't cows moving or destroying them.

I have been building auxiliary power boxes for them with a 2w solar panel, 12v 7-10ah battery in an enclosure and an armored cable plug. Pretty much dont have to change the AA batteries anymore. The pre-made battery solar packs never seem to last. 22602.jpg
