Suppressor Testing??

What did you read that made them very interesting? I haven't heard much about them yet.

Oh I just read on their website and the threads here on Rokslide.

Mostly curious how the Altus stacks up next to the Airlock & Reaper. Have been wanting a “max” suppression can as well, but don’t want a 1lb behemoth or anything high-pitched so am interested in the Vorix too. Without some side by side comparisons though…I couldn’t see ever getting beyond mildly interested.

Ryan will be doing further videos with the ALTUS 30 Cal going against the Airlock 30 Cal and Reaper 30 Cal I would assume. I know on this initial testing he only had an Airlock 6.5, which is not really comparable from a testing sense. One has a 6.5 diameter, while the other has a .30 diameter. Both great cans no doubt. Testing both cans on a 6.5 Creed is not going to give you the most accurate / same weight class comparison though.

Comparable testing to better educate the consumer is only possible when it's apples to apples.

Interested to see these results. For reference, our ZG 30 can typically tests about 1.5–2 dB(A) quieter than the Zero Gravity 6.5 when both are shot on a 20" 6.5 Creedmoor. You can use that as a rough reference point when Ryan releases the video.

Are you guys planning to submit it to PEW or Silencer Summit?

That will be a good one. Us too. I know they use some high sampling meters. 262 kHz. Not a total end all be all or full story on performance, but good to get some super accurate muzzle and ear numbers when compared to other great cans.

Definitely a big difference on the rate of sampling between 48 - 64 kHz and 262 kHz.

You’ll notice a lot of videos were made. But I haven’t seen one showing comparison to an airlock.

I’ll be told how silly I am. But why not just post a video of airlock vs OG (any or all of them) with same meters and setup

Buy one of each and do it yourself then. No one is stopping you. You're asking someone else to pay the money you don't want to.

You’re right.

OG6.5 and OG6-s look awesome and I may have to pick one up. Def gonna get the reaper in 338 when it gets done.

Enough from me on the sound. Glad people are using suppressors. OG great option to reduce sound.

Missed a great opportunity to test the OG 6.5 against the ZG 6.5 here, and the "conflict" argument doesn't hold water considering Ryan's inclusion of other UM products. Not sure there is really anything to take away from this video that we didn't already know as is..

Thanks for doing this. I'm looking forward to Day 2 to see the variation.

I made a chart of the readings reported in the video becuase I like to see this kinda info presented side-by-side. Sharing in case others do too.

I also asked Ryan if he could do muzzle readings and use a tripod for future tests for more accuracy. Keeps ya from having the muzzle move around and create inaccurate numbers. Any slight variation can make a difference whether good or bad. Maybe a 5-10 shot average would be cool to see as well.
