Sure, it’s competitive. No doubt about that. I just wonder what it does that makes people want to spend ~$180 to $280 more than lighter, shorter, quieter (or roughly the same) cans. At 129-130, it’s in a fine place. It’s going to sound half as loud as the OG, for instance. But it’s also going to sound twice as loud as the Nomad Ti XC or Reaper.
Again, not looking to argue. Trying to figure out what the numbers don’t tell me.

Part of its is the name, lots of it is that an ounce in either direction makes absolutely no difference. As for sounding twice as loud, I don’t know what to say about that. I shot my ultra 7 side by side with the nomad XC a few days ago and it certainly didn’t seem twice as loud. I was interested in to OG for a bit but being that it is louder and heavier, it seems like nothing more than a gimmick to me, seems like there’s a reason hardly any companies are going with OTB designs.
I don’t know man, you can geek out all day long with tech specs but at the end of the day, even a really shorty silencer is much better than not having one at all, while there are some stupid designs out there and some silencers that wouldn’t personally buy, the gap between the “crappy” ones and the top of the line seems almost negligible in my opinion, other than weight, there are some out there that are like 17 ounces.
Also edit to add: when I bought my ultra 7 it was still sort of the standard, and it’s been great. Like I said it may not be the best but it’s a solid choice still. Every time I look at my scythe I wish I had just got another ultra 7. The pricing is probably all in the name, when I got mine, it was 1080.00 (without the stamp) which is only like 80 bucks more than I maid for my ti xc and my scythe. (I missed the sales on both of those).
There’s always some trade off, the scythe is awesome but obviously we can’t trust them. From a sound/weight perspective it’s awesome. The TBAC, I guess it’s announce heavier than a ti xc which seems like a much smaller handicap than the scythe has.
TBAC has some weird fanboys though, I’m guessing that adds to the cost. I was wearing a TBAC hat at the Seattle airport and some dude approached me. We started talking he showed me pics of his TBAC collection, he literally had all of them and multiples of a few. I was like….i have the 7….
