Suppressed Group Sizes (Need Help)

I guess I missed this thread blowing up, so I’ll provide an update….

I switched from the Area 419 mount to the TBAC CB and headed back out to the hills today (it’s a minimum 45 minute drive to get somewhere to shoot).

Started at 100 yards with high hopes, and didn’t even hit the 12”x12” target (or the box it was stuck on).

Moved in to 25-30 yards, and I was 5-6” right. Moved the scope over to get it close to center, and then went back to 100 yards. First three shots were 4-5.5” high at 100 yards. Adjusted the scope to get it in the bullseye area, but it was still printing 3-4” groups at 100 yards.

I will be able to look thru the suppressor with a bore scope again tomorrow, but now it has me questioning the threads on the Ruger like @wind gypsy suggested.

Before I headed out shooting, I did look down the barrel with the suppressor on and I didn’t notice anything obvious, but with the light baffle strikes I was getting before, I’m not sure I could catch that with the naked eye.

Not real sure what else to do at this point.

I’d be willing to bet that the issue is with the threads on your rifle. I ran into this with my first can. Fortunately my gunsmith was really on top of it and checked alignment on a couple of my rifles before I shot them. He caught the problem before I had a baffle strike. You are correct that you may not be able to see the issue with your naked eye, especially given the fact that it looks like the bullets are just barely kissing the baffles. Take the rifle and can to a smith that has alignment rods. Should only take a few minutes to sort it out. If your barrel threads are not concentric with the bore, the smith just has to cut/thread to make them right.

It really surprises me that more people don’t have issues with factory threaded barrels causing baffle strikes. Especially when using thread, hub or qd adapters.

Spoke with Thunderbeast this morning and he said it is likely the barrel shoulder that is causing the issue. I am going to send the rifle and suppressor to them to look at/fix. I have had mixed experiences with smiths in my area, so I feel like this is the best option at this point.

When they came out with the quick-detach systems they knew they had stacking problems. The suppressor manufacturers increased the size of the hole in the suppressor to try an negate the tolerance stacking problem. I like direct screw on suppressors, not as sexy as the TBAC ect but always quieter, and never a baffle strike if tight.
In your case, you already are committed to some type of an adapter, so use whatever will work best for you. What does the suppressor manufacturer recommend

Are you saying that direct thread cans r quieter than cans that use adapters? Maybe on paper, maybe. In fact I’m not even gonna say maybe, just that it’s possible. but definitely can’t hear the difference. I have a direct thread nomad ti and a nomad ti xeno. To the ear there’s no difference. And my physical 13 days ago says I have perfect hearing

You nor a friend don’t have another rifle to put the can on to see if groups are erratic? Would rule out the gun or the can instantly
