Superformance load data

There's quite limited data out there for this powder. Hornady's manual shows data for 6.5 Creedmoor, which is what I'm looking for. However, with limited availability of bullets, I am wanting to use some 130 gr Berger VLD hunting bullets that I found, and anything else I might be able to find. I'd love to find some 130 or 140 accubonds and use Superformance behind them. Any experience using Superformance when specific load data isn't published for a specific bullet? Hodgedon has a bit of info as well, but not much

I just picked up a pound, too... just because it was there. The new Hodgdon magazine has some loads for 6.5, I'll snap a pic and send it your way. Mostly in the 140+ gr bullets and 45 grain territory for max loads. Looks like it's a little faster than the old standby, H4350.

I tried this powder with 130 accubonds. I wanted to push it for the speed, I found zero acceptable accuracy from 1.5grains below max to max. The less the charge the better the accuracy. I was not willing a to accept the lower speeds.
I however did find that superformance with 120tsx. Consistently shoots like group attached. BB5F26B8-F8DE-4CFA-B5AA-31AFF414948F.jpeg

I've had good results running SuperFormance in my Begara 6.5CM. I'm running 140gr Hornady BTHP, starline brass, 210M primers, and 44gr of powder.

Unfortunately, I don't yet have a chronograph, but my dope has me right around 2725fps with a 22" barrel.

Barnes 127 LRX with superformance shot incredible out of a 6.5wsm. Not good results with the 143 and 147 hornady with that powder.

Yeah, I used it with 124 gr Hammer Hunter bullets, I believe around 43grs, velocity avg was 2925, .5” group.

I don’t think that’s far off from what I’ve been getting with W760, though the group is a bit tighter.

I’m going to put a light crimp and with the Hammers it’s supposed to help tighten and pick up some velocity. The way they’re constructed they don’t have a lot of contact in the neck.

resurrecting this old thread.
I also picked up a LB of superformance because it was one of the only powders my local shop had in stock. Can you send me this load data you mention above?
Seems some things I read have max at 44gr while others is 45+ for 140’s.

My Sierra reloading app shows the max at 47.4 grains for 140 gr bullets.

Thank you
Does it give barrel specs or make any velocities on their load work up?

24” barrel and 2900 FPS. It’s a free app if you’d like to download it and play with the options.

If note, Hodgdon shows 43.8 as max on their website. Also a 24” barrel, but only getting 2820 FOS. I’m curious why there’s such a huge different.

Weird, the app isn’t on the apple App Store

The Hodgdon magazine has Superperformance loads for 143 ELDx at 2.8" COAL, min = 40.7 gr, max = 45.8 gr (2,795 fps). For 140 A-frames they have 2.7" COAL, min = 39.5 gr, max = 43.8 gr (2,819 fps).

I'd double check since I'm just some guy on the internet, but I'd be inclined to start off around 42 grains and work up from there.

I get groups like this consistently with 45.8 grains of Superformance and Berger 130 grain OTMs. 2850 fps at 85 degrees. I will test later in fall before rifle season to test temp sensitivity.

One more data point to add to this thread. I load 42.0 Superformance under the Norma 156 Oryx in my 6.5CM. Shoots 100yd 3/8 groups at 2600fps (24" bbl). Would be hard pressed to find a better 200yrd thumper for the 6.5 Creedmoor.

I tried every load in the book for my Pre-64 30-06. Everything I tried was around 1 MOA. Never could get it tighter. Tried Superformance and it instantly dropped to 1/2 MOA. Been pleased with it. Shooting 180gr Bergers.
