Super bowl

Nope, because Cam is much better under pressure than Peyton.

The results are in, and have determined that that was a LIE!

GO BRONCOS!!! Cam is a great athlete but that was a poor showing, he's got some growing up to do between the ears if he is ever going to be one of the greats...

Congrats to the Broncos!!!

I was surprised I found it to be a very entertaining game. But then again I've always loved a good pass rush :)

If character is measured by how one behaves in bad times I'd say both the Broncos and Seahawks showed how that should look after the last two SB's. I suppose that's the main reason I was rooting for the Broncos. And I've hated the Elways longer than I've hated the Broncos so that's saying a lot.

I don't know were to even start with Newton other than I'm thrilled he'll never show up in my elk camp. I'm not sure how any Panther defensive player can look across that locker room and not think they have to call their agent and demand a trade. I've got a funny feeling the Panthers SB hangover is going to look an awful lot like the 49'rs.

I'm having a hard time understanding what you're trying to say here. I'm not by any means a Carolina Panthers fan but I totally expect them to do well next year, and as far as a Super Bowl hangover like the 49ers I don't really understand that either. The 49ers came back and played in the NFC championship game the next year after losing the Super Bowl and they only barely lost in the championship game. I don't know how how you can consider that a Super Bowl hangover season.

Agree Troutbum, I respect them and what they accomplished. They accomplished a lot this season and I am convinced they would've outscored any other team. If Cam had some better receivers that we couldn't cover in man like we did than it might have been a different story. It's funny cause the defense for the super bowl wasn't super creative. The majority of the plays were a simple man-over with an all out blitz from the backers. There were some variety thrown in there but not much (e.g. the play where Miller was covering a wheel down the sideline). I would say the worst hangovers in recent history would be the 2012 Giants or 2013 Ravens seasons which I blame on front-office blunders like overpaying Flacco and letting 8 starters go on UFA.

Having a bad game is one thing. Quitting on your team and then sulking in the corner like some petulant spoiled kid is another. I'll stand by my comment with the hope I'm wrong. Maybe he'll grow up and start acting like a leader but for now I don't see them getting back to the top of the mountain.

I agree with U BroodBuster. Any one see the post game interview with Cam? That wasn't a class act in my opinion... Wasn't a fan of his. And never will be now for sure.... Would of any other QB acted like that. The Manning,Brady,Rivers,Russel, and others acted like that No...

The problem is that Manning did do it in 2010. Even though I agree in principle that I'm not a fan of the guy as a person cause I think he's a showboat who is way too full of himself. I am not going to hold it against him for walking out on the interview after the game. 1st of all the NFL made an extremely poor decision to do the interviews side-by-side with only a curtain to separate the two teams. That's only inviting confrontation. 2nd I think that it's cruel and unusual punishment to make a guy sit up there and answer questions after you just lost the Superbowl. Honestly, I can't say I wouldn't do the same or at least pull a Marshawn Lynch and not respond to anything for the required time period. Could he have handled it better, yes. But do I think he deserves the ridicule he's getting? No. Both Manning and Brady have done similar things in walking off the field without the official handshake and only doing the obligatory 10min of interview before walking off in SB 44 and 46.

"Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser."- Cam Newton. I love this quote from Cam. In a day and age where everyone gets a trophy and kids are not allowed to fail, I think this quote speaks volumes. If you are ok with losing, then you will be a loser the rest of your life.

I am not a Panther fan. But I am a fan of people who hate to lose. All of the greats acted the same way when they lost. They hated the feeling of losing so much, that when it did happen, they took every measure to make sure it did not happen again. If Cam truly is a sore loser, which he says he is, then he will come back and win titles, probably multiple titles. He will do this because he does not want to feel like this again.

Well, I personally do not care for Mr. Newton. Not that it matters as my opinion doesn't mean squat. But I was hoping that he would get his ass kicked and I am glad it happened and I also think that the real true Cam Newton came to the surface. All the other stuff was as act.
The guy has incredible talent and could be one of the best in the game but unless he gets the mental part down, its gonna be a short career.
And of course, if you say you don't care for him, you get labeled a racist which is what a lot of the sports talk radio stations are talking about.
I could care less what color he his----he acts like a spoiled brat and is arrogant as hell. THAT is what I don't care for.
Oh yeah, and I don't like how he dresses......:)

Yeah, I'm not at all in love with Cam (although I do think it's cool when he gives the touchdown ball to the little kid in the stands), this is well said timekiller. I think if you grew up loving the game of football and dreamt of one day playing in the NFL and the Super Bowl, then actually having it happen and losing, it'd be pretty difficult to hide your emotions and play the good sport act. But what do I know, I've never played a professional sport.

A sore loser starts to sulk as soon as the prospect of losing enters their minds, winners give it everything to the last second no matter the outlook. Cam had lost that game long before the time ran out. Score wise they were still in it but their leader let them down with his body language, not much of a leader. He is young, he can learn and come back from it but he must change and he most certainly should not be defending his behaviour.

I could care less about the post game sulking. It's the on field antics that would drive me nuts.

If he hates losing so much maybe he should go get the ****ing fumble instead of say this 48 hrs later.

""I didn't get the fumble,'' Newton said. "We can play tit for tat. I've seen numerous quarterbacks throw interceptions, and the effort afterwards ... they don't go. I don't dive on one fumble, because of the way my leg was, it could have been [contorted] in a way."

Meanwhile his linebacker started the game with a broken arm. I bet he hates losing too!!! That's why I think he's lost the locker room and better grow up fast or he's a one and done.

But that's why we play the game :). I wish Newton luck and hope the Seahawks see them again in future playoff games.

And to the Panther fans it could be worse. He could have thrown a pic at the two yard line to lose the game :).

For those who have never played quarterback, it is a tough balancing act...balancing competitive emotion while maintaining a calm awareness of as much as possible of all that is going on. Even for quaterbacks, much of what you do is from muscle memory and not a conscious decision in the game. Hence, the need for repetition in practice. A football game for a quaterback is like a game of chess with up to several moves being made over a 5-10 second play, and with all of the pieces moving at under 5.0 second 40's. Then add to that getting the crap beat out of you by other pieces on the board, that you have to completely ignore for most of the play in order to focus elsewhere to do your job well. Then you have armchair quaterbacks in the media and public scrutinizing every single move you make. It can be somewhat of an emotional roller coaster for even the most experienced of these guys I would think, of which Cam is not yet.

My guess with the fumble thing is that Cam was doing subconciously what quaterbacks at that level typically do when the ball is not right next to them, in order to prevent an injury. Then it dawned on him what the actual situation in the game was. Even a good quaterback loses track of what the situation is in the game at times, especially when that is not the primary focus like it is in for instance a 2 min drill.

I have no problem with Cam walking out of the press conference. I would much rather have my quaterback be a leader in the locker room than with the media. And I agree with the above that being unhappy with losing is an important motivator.

I did however, think that wearing the gold MVP shoes and gold Superman shirt out before the game making himself the focus was extremely immature and selfish for one of the leaders of a team. Hopefully, that Superbowl experience will teach him a little humility.

I hate to lose to, and always have. But I was also taught that it doesn't warrant me acting like an asshole. You get your lunch handed to you, you get up, congratulate your opponent, show some humility, and then you go make yourself better for next time. It's not about being okay with losing. Losing sucks. It's about showing humility and class. Heck, Cam couldn't even bring himself to acknowledge that the Broncos played a great game. Admit that you got your ass kicked and move on.

Dealing with the media is part of the NFL. It's why you get paid millions. Don't like it, join the rest of the real world.
